Secondaries Anonymous

So I may have a problem with secondary armament (that I can't fit more) on my battleships. I cannot get enough of them, I squeeze them anywhere I can that doesn't give them a terrible firing angle, and it's just getting worse as I get bigger and bigger hulls. Is this excessive? Am I alone? (Is it caused by my brand new battleships getting swarmed by enemy DDs) Especially when I compare them to historical designs, it's almost laughable how many I have. Does anyone else do this? And if not, why?

The Old Soldier continues the fight

18 years after the first of the class was laid down, the first major refit of the Alexios class has brought them up to parity in a new role as a heavy defence ship for newfound colonial territory. Redesigned to mostly engage enemy convoy and port raiders, its 18in guns make it a threat to any Battleships that come to cause trouble.

Getting Started as Italy

I am planning to get into naval and I was looking for some tips and pointers. I played the naval CBT and had a lot of fun with the like 20 people that I would regularly run into and I already have the (original) Premium Geniere from when the tree first came out, but haven't really touched naval since then.

So to get to the point, with regards to both coastal and bluewater Italy, what ships do people recommend? What tips on how to play? AB vs RB? (How do I use this infernal aiming system) Is it worth looking at the other premium ships? (How bad is Zara) And generally anything else you guys can think of or struggled with yourselves.

Many thanks.

Edit: I feel I should mention that I choose Italy not because I expect them to be good, but because I enjoy Italian naval design.

What's paradox's plan with heavy cruisers? They have 2/3rds the damage stats, at 2/3rds the cost, but with significantly less armor, org, HP, and dominance. Not to mention that it costs over double the steel somehow???

Is there any reason to use them over BBs? Because they seem like a pretty straight up worse option with little to no benefits that I can see besides better fuel usage and lower surface visibility. Am I missing something?
