I've given up on trying to research the topic since all of it is subjective, so I'll ask here instead: If gender is entirely a social construct based on stereotypes and societies roles of that gender, and none of the masculinity BS fits me (born male), then what is the difference between being a guy that hates the meaning and people included in the category of "guy", and being agender? Is there an objective distinction? I've been looking for the last 4 days and I can't find shit, and this is more of a philosophical question anyway, so any response is appreciated.
I'm thanking anyone who read this/replied in advance, it means a lot.
Basically, I've been trying to figure out whether or not I am agender, and one question I can't find the answer to is the following: what is "gender identity"? I have to be sure that the label fits, since my family is anti everything but male and female (birth assigned). Thanks in advance to anyone who reads this or replies.
I'm not sure what happened. I remember when I was able to seem happy and function.. normally, but I think those days are over. I am stuck an extremely stressful school system that gets worse every second I think about it. What's worse is that I have to study for a new school I'm swapping to because I missed a year of "Wirtschaft & Recht" (Economics and law). My mental state is the worst it's ever been, I haven't eaten in 2 days, and all I'm doing in my supposed "holidays" is studying. I've been clean for over 500 days, but I have a feeling that the streak is about to end. I have (diagnosed) ADHD and severe depression, which means that my motivation to do anything has plummeted to the point that I can't get myself to get out of bed. This subject I'm studying for is extremely important due to the fact it will count when I try to enter uni, but my previous school left me completely burnt out. Also, normally this test is taken in 4 parts across 2 semesters, but I have to learn all 15 chapters at once in my 1 month long summer holidays.
My parents also promised (in written) that they would get me a cat if I got into this school, but backed down when I did. I don't consider either of them to be particularly pleasant to be around, but this is a new low, even for them. I remember when I decided to tell them about my self harm, and I remember their words exactly. They told me I was doing it for attention, that I'm using it to guilttrip them, and that I have everything I need and should therefore shut up and be happy. I have nobody left to talk to (friends have their own problems, close family would tell my parents who would promptly punish me for saying shit to anybody without their permission). I can't bring myself to keep doing this shit, and I know nothing will change. I've done everything I could to fix my problems, but I think this is the last straw. I'm not even sure I should be writing this, but I don't have much to lose anyway.
I think I'm done ranting. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to share.
To anyone reading this: I hope you are doing well, and I wish you good luck.
