Do you wear nicer and or flashy things at the office?

I’m an early 30-something. I was taught to not wear anything over the top at the office. I’m purposely of the bland Longchamp variety.

Well, I recently started a new role at a boutique firm. All of the young people making roughly $80,000 or so a year are carrying $5,000 bags and wearing Rolex and Yurman while the partners are extremely laid back and not flashy, comparatively.

I’d feel silly being better dressed than the partners personally.

Thoughts? I could very well be outdated here. Honestly I’m a bit surprised to see this.

Absolutely nothing on birthday

Well, it’s my birthday and my husband did nothing. Not even a card. Not a cupcake. Literally nothing.

I’m really upset because we had a second baby in December around the holidays and I was upset then that he didn’t do anything. Well he told me he’d make it up to me for my birthday and here we are.

At this stage every holiday feels like an IOU.

He claims he was going to get me jewelry and a fancy dinner this weekend but with nothing ordered or reserved, it feels every bit forced. I don’t want anything now.

I started a new job yesterday and even those people I’ve known for 48h took me to a nice lunch.

He’s a great father but I’m so incredibly sad. 😭
