Panasonic SJ-MJ15 Blue Personalization

Panasonic SJ-MJ15 Blue Personalization

I thought I'd share my small mod for the MJ15, the picture is from my dog. I have the one with the blue chihuahua aswell, however I wanted to have mine on it.

FYI, this is probably the easiest player to personalize.
But mind you buying one, many have one if the following things:
- broken gear (won't work anymore and needs a gear replacement - happens quite often)
- broken front controls (I guess one if the switches inside breaks down and it won't work anymore- also not uncommon) - replacement is hard as they are intended to be non replaceable - will only work with remote then
- front panel LEDs not working - controls work but LEDs won't (less common but I have seen it a few times)
- dead lasers (less common but also happened a few times)

Apart from that, nice device, cheap and great to personalize.

Why physical media is superior im durability (and minidisc)

I received a Panasonic MD player today, it was obviously to some part in salt water, the battery side, PCB and laser were covered in salt. There is rust on the spindle and the laser assembly. There was even a minidisc in there I didn’t get out at first because it was stuck to the rust of the assembly.
Removed the minidisc, wiped everything with IPA, removed the salt crust inside the minidisc with water (I drowned the disc) and blew it off with compressed air.
The process took 10 minutes. There is still rust around the lens and inside. But after cleaning the contacts and applying some pressure on the gumstick it played just fine…

Next time someone tells you physical media is obsolete, ask them if their SSD or SD card would survive that?

Minidisc Disc Holder / Rack / Tower - 3D Print

This is a model for a minidisc holder for 10, 20 and 40 discs. I use the 10 and 20 stacks myself for my car and mounted on a wooden panel at a friends place. The spacing allows for all cases (this is for usage with cases) to be use - also the CD like swing open type.

I use mostly PLA, however for the car I did it in ABS for better durability - I would recommend PETG or ASA/ABS for outdoor use or storing in warm places.

If there is interest, ping me, I can print and sell them to you aswell (shipping only within europe, outside will be prohibitvely expensive).

If anyone wishes modifications just tell me, I´ll have a look into it. I do also have a lot of other designs that I used for my self in the past (like a minidisc box for 20 discs, battery doors, battery cases, disc cases etc.). Once I have cleaned them up I will post it here for all of you.

Hifiengine request (Manual) Denon DMD-M10

Hi all,

as the registration is still closed and no signs of change for months, would someone be so kind and download the Denon DMD-M10 Minidisc Operating Instructions for me and provide them to me?

Would really be appreciated, thanks a lot....

I was looking for a case to take along when on the road that allows me to take along some Minidiscs and a gumstick as a backup. As I did not find anything appealing and I already use a nice design from here (https://www.printables.com/model/1039212-cassette-tape-carry-case-with-gumstick-battery/files) for my cassettes, I thought I build one that matches the design language.

It holds 3 discs without a case and a gumstick. I printed it in white and green PLA. It is a rather tight fit so that the door stays close, I actually had to use silicone oil for the first 10-20 times opening and closing it so it will move okay. I might make it a little less tight fitting.

If anyone wants the stl contact me, if requested I can print and ship (I do have a lot of colors available).

If one intends to keep that in the car, use ABS, PLA will basically melt away at 50+ degrees.
