Australian Birding App

Australian Birding App

Hi all, please delete if not allowed.

For the last ~5 months I've been working on a birding app for Australian birds. I had some frustrations with some of the other applications and being a software engineer for over 10 years, I thought this would be a fun little project and a way to learn more about birds.

Some other people showed some interest and I've just hit ~500 users on iOS and Android has just released today. It's still in very early stages but it'd be really nice to get some feedback on the application.

I've been spending the last month and a bit building a light sound model that can be used on most devices that I'm just putting the final touches on as well and should be hopefully done by the end of this month. This will bring sound identification for birding, similar to Merlin.

The app is completely free at the moment and will remain that way for the foreseeable future until I release a feature I feel like is worth it.

The application is BirdUp Australia

Also, as a note, I did see the other Australian birding application linked here. It looks like we were on the same page and probably experienced the same frustrations with other applications.

Little corella not approved for landing

Tried birding at Lake Joondalup this morning but it was way too windy and I'm sure every other bird was bunkering down.

Managed to capture this flock of Little corellas though.

Splendid Fairy-Wren

I’ve never been able to catch these guys standing still or not hiding behind a bunch of branches
