Getting out of Debt

I net about 3600 per month after taxes & deductions, including 7% into a 401(k) with 5% employer match.

I have about 71,000 student loan debt, 270 min payment and a car loan 350, with 12,000 remaining.

After utilities, rent and groceries, I have about 2300 left.

I was following Dave Ramsey group, but everyone was telling me to stop contributing to the 401k and put it towards the debt and sell my car. I have only had my car for a few months. I put a 12k down payment.

Should I stop contributing to my 401k and put it toward my debt? My parents have always told
me if the Employer matches, put in at least what they match. Should I lower my contribution to 5%?

I have no other get debts.

Car loan interest is 5.5%
Student loan interest is 4.5%

My goal is to payoff the car by the end of the year

No other debt

I net roughly 3600 a month after taxes

Warm up for tonight’s game - answer will be provided at 8:30 EST

WARM UP
This one is a stretch and difficult. But the clues make sense. Good luck! 1 guess per person.

  1. Some people spend their careers avoiding the impossible. This person made a career chasing it.
  2. A single childhood mystery shaped nearly every major decision that followed.
  3. Coworkers often thought this person belonged in the basement—both literally and figuratively.
  4. Evidence rarely pointed in the same direction twice, but that never seemed to matter.
  5. Most people would have stopped looking long before this person ever considered giving up.

Should I finance a car?

So here’s my situation.
I have worked my butt off to pay down my debt. The only debt I have is my student loans, which I am paying double my monthly payments.

I have been fortunate to of been working a remote job for the last two years and I have been able
To save up for a new car that is 22,000. My current car is a 15 year old Nissan Murano and it’s at its final stages of life. Other than regular maintenance, I’m not sinking in more cash into that car.

I recently accepted a job, which pays more and is an opportunity for me to advance .
, however which my new job it’s hybrid and i have a 1 hour.
Commute. My car won’t do well with long distance. Once my current lease is up, i do plan to move.

Right now, I do not have enough cash I need to get the car.

My financial offer:
7,000 loan, 0% interest for 6 months
My down payment will be 15,000

With my new job, I can pay it off within the 6 month period. If I don’t pay within the six months, my interest rate will be around 5%

I have 10,000 in savings
5,000 on a high interest CD for five years that I can’t touch, I add money in monthly
Money in several 401(k)s

However, I will have to pay less on my student loans for 6 months.

My car barely passed state inspection last year
The breaks are at their final stage
Transmission could blow at anytime
Has 257,000 miles

Should I finance?

I really don’t want to deal with a use car again, which is why I’m considering the new car. I don’t want to get a used car and then down the road spent thousands of dollars for repairs AGAIN

Note: I never said this was a new new car, it’s only a few years old and small mileage. I did my research and it’s actually a good deal

Treat yourself?

Here’s the scenario:

You have been unemployed for two months. You were fortunate to have three interviews in a single day. 2 of the 3 interviews seem positive. You are driving home from a long day, tired and stress. You see your favorite coffee place is coming up. Do you stop and treat yourself?

Best friend dating guy… I don’t trust

My friend, we will call her Lex. A few years ago she met a guy, and they dated for 1 and half years, got engaged for two years and then she broke it off because of different reasons. I personally never met him, he was out of the picture by the time we became friends. I met her when I lived in Colorado after my divorce. We never dated, but she broke up her engagement a few months prior to meeting and we basically bashed our Exs. Basically he was not nice to her, he manipulated her, she even called him a narcissist.

i moved back to Pennsylvania about a year ago, but we stayed in touch.. she texted me the other night around 3 on the morning, 1 her time letting me know that she got back together with him two weeks ago and he told her that he didn’t want her to talk me… which that immediately put a red flag up. I do care about her and not thrill her dating him again… I’m worried that she will get eventually get hurt again, i do know most of her family does not like her and her dog hates him. … I want to support her in this decision, I just have a bad feeling about this …

She didn’t block me , but probably won’t talk to me anymore .l did tell her I’m here for her if she ever needs to talk.

Should I tell her I think she’s making a mistake or just let it go?

Note; we never dated because she 26 and I’m 38 and we met through a mutual friend and we just enjoyed bashing our exs and had a lot in common
