youtube.comHas there been a recent slowdown at the Toronto consulate?
I'm part of a Facebook group where people who are going/have gone through the process in Toronto are reporting no open interview availability for 3-4 months.
To any of the lawyers in this community, what has been your recent experience regarding the current timeline (application submission to interview)?
Seeking feedback on fastening a gun safe to a constructed platform instead of the ground
I'm going to get a gun safe (link) that I'm going to put under my stairs. The problem is that I can't bolt it to the floor because of the pipes for in-floor heating being directly underneath. There are no holes in the side or back wall, just the bottom
I was thinking of building a small platform (using, say, 2x6s) and attaching it to the wall studs on the left. The safe will then sit on the platform and be bolted to that instead.
I attached a picture of where it's going, and a picture of a safe on a platform from one of the reviews on the link to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. I don't use the firearms very often, so the safe won't be opened very frequently. I'm located in Muskoka, Ontario, Canada, so we don't really have to deal with things like earthquakes, etc.
Having never owned a gun safe before, I would appreciate feedback on whether this is the next best alternative given my circumstances. Thanks in advance!

youtube.comAre the feds actually going to be able to collect tens of thousands of guns by 10/30, or do we think the amnesty's getting extended?
Around 67K declared their firearms for the buyback and apparently they haven't started collecting yet.
With just over 5 months to go and a whole slew of law enforcement refusing to lift a finger to help, they're not actually going to get this done by 10/30, are they?
(I know the SCC could grant an injunction to extend it because they're agreed to hear the CCFR's case, but I'm referring to the complete lack of progress on the buyback itself as the deadline approaches.)
