HELP! Need to change keypad

Alright long story short, not sure where to post this. I have a Heritage long 14 gun safe with an NL keypad. The wires on the keypad came off so I had to saunter it which I did and it worked. Like an idiot I had the keypad in my safe and my mother locked it. I need access to this safe BAD someone please help. I bought another keypad on Amazon but where the wire connects on the new one it’s too big compared to the OG one. I’m looking at NL keypads online they’re expensive but I’m wondering if keypads are for their own specific lock? Can I just connect this to a new NL keypad and have it work? Anyone know of a cheaper keypad that’ll fit? I really do not want to cut into the safe.

Fortress Key Replacement?

not sure why it wouldn’t let me add a pic to the post, but they’re in the comments

My gf lost the only key I had for my fortress gun cabinet. I’ve included a pic of the type of cabinet + type of key for reference. Neither pics are mine but found online.
Aside from calling a lock smith or cutting into the cabinet, is there anyway I can get in? I looked for replacement keys but couldn’t find one like this. I know the cabinet is relatively inexpensive, but it was a gift from someone that’s since passed away so there’s a significant amount of sentimental value in it. Any help is appreciated.

Gun Safe on Carpet

Hello, taking delivery of my safe soon. It's a Winchester Ranger 42, 842lbs. It will be going on the ground floor, on top of carpet. Will not be bolting it down. Will this be stable and not tip forward? Should I put it on top of plywood?

I made a reusable tamper-evident jar for storing sensitive items

Hey guys, not this post is not exactly about safes but complimentary to them. For the past few years, I have been working on a reusable tamper-evident jar for storing physical items.

The idea is that the lid creates a random physical “fingerprint” every time you close it. Inside the lid are thousands of tiny black and white balls. When you twist the jar open or closed, they mix. Once the jar is closed, the unique pattern is locked in place.

You can take a photo of that pattern with your phone, and later compare it to check whether the jar has been opened. If someone opens it, the pearls mix again and the original pattern is gone.

I made it because I wanted a simple physical way to store things like hard drives, USB sticks, authentication keys, documents, etc. Basically anything that you would do want to know if someone has accessed it.

After a lot of hard work and prototyping, I'm happy to announce it's finally complete! Check it out on https://www.entropyseal.com/.

Happy to hear feedback. I’m especially interested in whether the concept is clear and what use cases come to mind. :)

How do I get rid of a 900 pound gun safe that I can’t access for free in Fort Lauderdale area?

My estranged husband took the key and left the safe over 2 years ago and I really need it gone but I can’t afford to pay someone to take it. If I put it on Marketplace for free but they have to bring the necessary equipment, will my post end up on Choosing beggars? I called a couple of scrap metal guys but no takers so far.

UK - Help getting rid of domestic Chubb safe

Hi all,

I recently moved into a house in Worcestershire (UK) with a small Chubb safe in one of the rooms on the ground floor. It measures approximately 45cm wide x 42cm deep x 53cm high. No idea how much it weighs but a search online suggested likely over 250kg.

Previous owners left us the combination and it works although I think we're missing a change key to alter the combination.

I want to get rid of it but it's too heavy for my partner and I to move. I tried removing the door but can't figure out how. I tried listing on Facebook Marketplace but got nowhere. I've contacted some safe disposal companies but they're quoting £500 - £1000 and I can't justify that.

Can anybody here help with:

Recommending any companies I could contact?

Any specialist marketplaces where I could list it?

Suggesting what tools I could get to help my partner and I get it out of the house ourselves?

Explaining how I get the door off?

Edit: it is on the ground floor but there's a single step at the front door.

Thanks for all the replies!

Short Survey [Research]

[Research] Hi! I’m conducting a short survey for a project on a smart gun safe that uses fingerprint authentication and an alcohol sensor. It takes about 3-5 minutes, and I’d really appreciate your honest feedback. Thanks! https://forms.gle/pXQZ3XugbJ1isLiV8

Need help figuring out what to do to open this Sentinel safe.

So I bought this gun safe/locker through a gun show private sale back in 2016. It appears to be a Sentinel but I'm reading Stack On manufactured it. I lost both keys during a move but confirmed through the back sticker (terrible writing) and through an old email I sent myself that the code for the tubular style lock key is "MB18". This would have been printed on the key itself.

Problem is I can't access the serial number as it appears to be inside the safe itself. It looks like i need the sn to order the key. This thing is 25 years old at least and I have no clue what to do.

Is a locksmith my only option? Thanks ahead of time.

Found a locked metal box behind a loose brick in my basement. Worth opening?

My house is around 80 years old, and I was replacing some insulation today when I noticed one brick wasn't cemented in like the others. Behind it was a small metal box, maybe the size of a lunchbox. It's pretty rusty but still locked.

I shook it and there's definitely something inside, but it doesn't sound heavy.

I don't really want to force it open if it's something important or collectible. Any ideas on how old something like this might be or the best way to open it without destroying it?

(I accidentally took down the original post. My bad.)

Help opening a safe

A friend has recently moved in to a house ( he owns not rents) and under the stairs is a cupboard within which, embedded in the floor, is a safe.

He wants to get it open but isn’t keen on digging out the whole floor!

There is a key hole, there seems to be an outer layer of metal and a second one that I can see via the key hole!

There is a hinge on the top side of the square and there are signs that previous owners have tried to drill to open!

Any suggestions? Locksmith? Angle grinder? Can it be x-rayed?

What the coming ban caused.

((I didn't have a safe or enough to need one.))

((Posts a safe in safe group, downvoted and berated for showing use of safe.)) Why are you people even in here? 😆 Get some joy in your life.

Manual key works, but the keypad will not unlock

I started having this issue where I can use the key to open it up manually but for some reason the keypad no longer is working to unlock it. Change the battery and everything, unplug the keypad from the safe, and it still doesn't seem to solve the issue.

I can type in the password it will say unlocked but it doesn't actually allow me to turn the door to unlock it. But if I manually slide the key in, it turns like butter.

Do I have to get a new safe or is there any alternative for this?

Thanks
