Sorry if this is basic, but why do soldering stations matter so much compared to a normal soldering iron?

I'm trying to learn basic electronics repair and people keep telling me to get a real soldering station instead of a cheap soldering iron and honestly I don't really get the difference because I thought heat is heat but the more I look into it the more confusing it gets.
Some people say temperature control is the key thing while others say stability matters more than max heat. And then I saw someone mention that cheap irons can actually damage components because they fluctuate too much.
I’ve been trying to piece things together while reading random guides and watching repair videos. I even noticed people comparing different setups from places like Alibaba, which made me realize there are probably huge quality gaps between tools that might look the same.
One thing I still don't get is whether or not full soldering stations are really necessary for beginners or just overkill marketing. Like, is it possible to actually learn properly with a basic setup or does it just make things unnecessarily frustrating?
Also, what actually defines a good soldering station? Is it temperature accuracy, tip quality or something else entirely?
Sorry if this is obvious but I just don’t want to waste money on the wrong thing while I’m still learning.

I’ve been experimenting with different motorcycle communication systems over the last couple of years, and I’m curious what other riders think about the major options out there.

The first system I used was a Sena unit installed in my touring helmet. It connected easily with my phone and worked great for navigation prompts and phone calls. Even riding at highway speeds, people on the other end of a call could hear me clearly, which honestly surprised me. The only downside for me was the music quality. The speakers were fine for communication, but when listening to music the sound felt a bit flat.

Later on, when I got a different helmet for my sport bike, I decided to try a Cardo system instead. One thing I immediately liked was the external control unit. It’s much easier to adjust volume or change tracks without opening the visor or fumbling around.

The audio quality also seemed noticeably better, probably because of the larger speakers. I also liked how the system automatically adjusts the volume based on road noise, which is helpful when switching between slower roads and highways.

Before choosing between the two, I actually spent some time browsing different helmet communication systems online just to compare options and prices. I even checked a few wholesale marketplaces like Alibaba to see the range of Bluetooth intercom designs available, which was interesting because there are so many variations now.

For riders here who use a motorcycle communication system, which brand do you prefer?
Do you prioritize sound quality, battery life, or ease of controls when choosing one?

I’ve been thinking a lot about hand drying options in public washrooms lately, especially as maintenance and sustainability considerations have become more important. On one hand, paper towels can be quicker and allow multiple people to dry at once but they come with hidden costs. Trees are cut down, energy is burned in production and transport, and most paper towels end up in landfills releasing greenhouse gases.

On the other hand, hand dryers have evolved a lot. Modern models dry hands in under 10 seconds, reducing wait times, and they generate far less waste overall. I’ve even noticed that some of the parts for these dryers, like nozzles and internal heating elements, can be sourced and replaced individually, which makes maintenance easier and reduces downtime. A friend once compared options on Alibaba just to see what replacement hand dryer parts were available and how they might fit older units it’s amazing how many suppliers exist if you’re doing some research.

It makes me wonder: when you manage a public washroom, how do you decide between paper towels and hand dryers? Do you prioritize speed, hygiene, environmental impact, or maintenance costs? I’d love to hear what works best in real-world situations.
