Holy shit, you are a fucking alien.
I don’t know if any of you have seen Lanterns yet, but I’m investing in this format early.

We don’t know how many people are going to be active players when this all dies down. I personally range it around the 10,000 to 25,000 if we’re lucky but even that’s generous. We dropped from 100k a week or so ago, now we’re not hitting 90k, you have a two or so months to play the game at peak matchmaking times.
If you wanna play Override, do it now. If you wanna play Gambit, do it now. If you can manage to find matches, play Nightmare Containment or Astral Alignment. Play Crucible, play Trials, play Onslaught, go play Iron Banner because I have a feeling that within a year, the population may not be enough to sustain matchmaking outside of the most popular activities. Not a fun truth but a realistic one. Enjoy the full towers, participate in dance parties, do vigils around Zavala, talk in Local chat and socialize. If you’ve been putting something off, I’d suggest going for it.
If you’ll check the Shell Series, it’s not an Icon Series Thief shell. It’s a Shinigami Series. Shell Model dictates abilities, Shell Style is the skin applied and Shell Series must be the personality matrix and vox-patt assigned to the Shell!
It’s a small thing but it’s cool that they took the time to record new voicelines for it. It opens up a lot of avenues if Shell Model is the only thing dictating abilities. Different themes and personalities for existing Shell Models. Like Female Assassin, Triage, Destroyer. Or Male Vandal, Thief or Recon. Completely different themes like UESC Series of existing shell models. Sky’s the limit. I just think that’s cool.
I don’t even mean to sign the petition!
I mean read the notes people left, the essays and videos people are recording saying just how much this game and franchise meant to them. If you want to see a snapshot of the good the game brought to so many people, I would recommend checking it out. There are folks pouring their hearts out on the petition, stories about relationships, marriages and lifelong friendships being made because people met over Destiny, it’s really heartwarming. There’s also younger people genuinely crashing out because the franchise was a massive part of their lives and something they’ve been playing for almost half of their entire lives.
If you want to see the range of lives and people touched by the Traveler. I’d take a peek. It’s probably not going to do anything, but it’s kind of beautiful to see so many people writing and recording themselves talking about how much the world of Destiny means to them. I know that oftentimes we’re called an MMO-lite because the social systems in Destiny were never really fully realized, but the fact that it built so many connections in spite of that limitation is really something. Check it out if you wanna reminisce and hear other players’ voices.

Thanks for the best decade of gaming I’ve had, these characters will stick with me for a while and that’s in no small part to these wonderful VAs and their performances. I hope to see them all reprise these characters one day, hopefully not too long from now. D3 Hopium.
What a ride. See you starside.
