Reached a under 60 min 10k PR after a year of on and off running between my Hospital shifts

I am doctor in a government setup in a Tier 2 city and duties can get pretty tedious and unnerving at times. I know i should have atleast run a half marathon once after a year of starting out but for someone like me who used to lead a pathetically sedentary life before he found running, this is a major achievement.

Any gyms open on a Sunday

Clear from the heading i guess

I am a doctor who has hectic duties on most weekdays and am hoping to partially make up for it during the weekend .

Social Mobility is a big lie for First Gen Doctors.

Long Rant ahead

Here is my background 31 Y/ M who literally came from nothing.Father used to run a small scale business which was in decline atleast since i had reached consciousness Parents somehow got me through a decent CBSE English medium school by making sacrifices the real magnitude of which I still don't know. Cleared Medical Entrance (NEET) with a decent rank (Had to take a drop though, couldn't afford to go to Kota for 11th and 12th)

Fast forward six years - Completed mbbs and internship from a good government institute , gave another entrance for PG

Cleared it with a good enough rank to land a seat in radiology in a government institute (this time in my hometown to save on expenses, my father's business was pretty much dead by this time. I had to expedite my admission so my PG stipend could pay our bills) .

Fast forward 4 years to now

I earn decent enough to sustain my family (barely a 6 figure salary, nothing compared to my tech and MBA brethren).

I look at the rising cost of living in this country coupled with worsening compensations for Modern medicine Doctors and it breaks my heart.I barely make it to the tax slab. Rebuilding from the ground up seems an insurmountable task. I am not even adding Marriage and the post nuptial responsibilities which is another conversation altogether. I can pursue another degree (a super specialisation )because that would be financially unsustainable at this point considering the meagre compensations and rural bonds in Superspeciality training.

I see no major changes in my standard of living because all my salary goes into paying back my family's dues and bills. Not that i am complaining; I owe everything to my family.

Just the stark slap-in-the-face reality of this youth gobbling toil of a career medicine makes me disablingly sad.

If some sorcerer could foretell this reality to my 18 yr old self burning the midnight oil for his exams, he would have abandoned it all and focussed on helping his father with his dwindling business instead.

Thank you for coming to my rant

Paistankingly curated Bookshelf over the years

Hello Beautiful people

Rate my bookshelf which has been in the making for almost 10 years now

(I sheepishly declare that I have read less than 70 percent of these)
