What's wrong with this dang computer? Hardware or Software? (Probably hardware)
Just a preface this, I know nothing about computers but I'd like to learn, i'm very curious. It's a shared computer, and it's seen a lot of rough days. As to not throw anyone under the bus, and to add a whimsical twist to the story, i'll be calling the culprit of the computer's damage "the dragon". The dragon has the tendency to bite the bottom right corner of the computer and bend the computer at times. On this particular day , the dragon had done both of those things and later, the computer froze. This is where they handed me computer and asked me to fix it, and believe me, I tried.
First I powerd the computer back on, and after a couple of seconds of black screen, and one flash of white later, the computer gave me a "no bootup system" screen, and then promptly shut off. I powered the computer back off and tried to look up what to do. I tried the F2 trick to get to the BIOS screen, but nothing happened, the computer wouldn't turn back on. At some point I was able to plug it in and the red light on the side turned on. And when I tried to turn it back on again, the blue light on the side turned on, but I still got nothing on the screen. I learned that it might be a hardware problem, So I opened up the computer's backing and found that the SSD had popped out from where it's screw was holding it, no longer flush with computer. I foolishly jimmied the SSD back into place while bending the computer, and tried to turn the computer back on again. I once again got the "no bootup system" screen, but the computer did stay on this time, it didn't shut off. i learned that doing all of this with the battery plugged into the motherboard is a stupid idea, so I unpugged that and removed the screw in order to properly remove the SSD.
Checking out the battery, it seems i'm gonna have to replace it since there's a little scratch in the protective plastic layer, but other than that, is there anything wrong with the battery? I was getting mixed information on this. What about the SSD?
