laptop dead after cleaning with 99% isopropyl alcohol spray

A couple of days ago I decided to clean my laptop in preparation for my summer break. I used isopropyl alcohol and a lot got inside the guts of my laptop. I didn't think much of it since ethanol isn't conductive. After a minute or so i powered it on and it worked just fine. After this I decided I didn't need to actually use my laptop so I turned it off. After about 15-30 minutes I wanted to use it again and... Go figure... It doesn't turn on anymore. It did however still charge which was noticeable because of the battery light indicator. The power button does not light up at all. A couple days after this the battery indicator no longer works. My dad noticed there was a reset power function but that didn't work either. I have not yet opened up the laptop but I could do it given the expired warranty. Thank you so much for already even reading this.

The laptop we're dealing with here is an MSI thin gf63 with an RTX 2050 and an intel core I5 12450H

If there is any else you'd want to know, just tell me and I'll do whatever I can!

My temps are at 100c

Hello, my computer’s temperatures were suddenly running extremely hot. I started receiving errors indicating that the PC was overheating. So, I purchased some Arctic MX-6, 8G. I applied it in an X shape on the CPU, but it is now running at 100°C right after booting up. So, I removed the thermal paste, reapplied it, and the temperatures are a bit better at startup, at only 90-95°C. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I still have plenty of thermal paste, and I noticed that this AIO from Corsair is not installed properly. So, I’m going to reinstall it so that the tubes are at the top. I’m not sure why this is installed this way other than the person who installed it didn’t know any better. Any advice on how I should put the thermal paste on? I have never done it before.

I think I am just paranoid but after cleaning I hear my fans more is it possible that the dust was damping the sound and now i am just freaked out over nothing?

Hey so the title already explains a lot but let me clarify.

I cleaned my pc two days ago with a small vacuum that can also blow air. I made use of that function and i wouldnt say its a super strong blow.

What I noticed is that occasionally one fan seems to hum or buzz. And i am not 100% sure if it is normal. It seems to happen when the cpu temp rises and the rpm of the fans goes up. Its also not constant or very loud. Maybe some would not even notice it too much.

I think temps of the cpu and gpu are fine. 35-40 degrees when idle. But granted my room is quite hot in summer as well.

What so you guys think? Anything to worry about or is it just my pc being clean now and thus i can hear it louder.

CPU clock speed running 0.4GHz on a (fairly) high-end laptop

Laptop model: ROG strix g614jv

CPU: 13th Gen Intel i7-13650HX

OS: Win 11 Home

Whenever I do anything my laptop starts stuttering and lagging.

At first i thought it was GPU related but after running some benchmarks I noticed that my CPU speed drops significantly and when i try to play anything, the speed drops to 0.45 GHz.

I am almost certain this is because of BD PROCHOT but i've been trying for multiple days now and i cannot disable it.

The option in throttlestop is greyed out, no option in bios and so far other fixes i've found have not worked.

I even cleaned every piece of dust out that I could find.

I feel like i'm losing my mind, would be eternally grateful for some help.

I can't find my GPU or run any games

This is a very new and sudden issue, and I cannot think of an inciting incident.

I play Minecraft and Stardew Valley. Not very difficult to run. And they did, up until a couple of days ago. Now, they say I don't have a GPU good enough to support them. I've looked at many YouTube tutorials, and they direct me towards things that don't exist on my computer.

For instance, many sources recommend checking out the Performance tab of Task Manager for a GPU section. I have CPU, disk, memory, and WIFI but no GPU.

Another couple of sources directed me to a place in settings where I would need to get a couple of numbers to find out what kind of GPU I have, but when I looked there, the area was blank.

Lastly, advice told me to check Device Manager to see if there was an issue with my GPU. It says that the device works just fine.

Do I need to download a software? Or buy a hardware? I'm sure I'm missing something simple. I am basically a grandma when it comes to computers, so please don't use too complicated words. Thank you in advance for all your help!

PC is extremely slow and buggy

I just had to reboot the PC since I had the infinite loop of windows automatic repair. Ever since I've rebooted the PC, it has become extremely slow, buggy, and just clicking on internet or a folders can take several seconds to open. Also, downloading games jsed to take me at most an hour to download but now they say 9 hours for a 15GB games. Ive updated windows, did my drivers, nothing is running in the background. I only have discord and steam installed. Here are the specs, I've never had this problem before today.

My Victus turns on and off

Today, after doing my general morning routine, I decided to get some of my work for tomorrow going, and started up my Victus, however, for whatever reason, I cannot seem to start it up, given that when pressing the power button, the Laptop seems to be starting up, but suddenly turns off. Even worse, by the fact that it suddenly, seems to be turning on again, but turns off, yet again, and so on and so forth. I'm in dire need of help for this one, as Idk what could even be going on with this, and currently cannot afford for any expensive repairs

I can’t turn on PC at all

I wasn’t home over the weekend and I thought my computer was off, long story short it sounds like we got a bad lightening storm and lost power, and I came home to my computer not turning on at all. Everything else in my room works except my tower, I am not a computer guy and tried diagnosing everything on google, it says to remove the CMOS Battery but I don’t see it, can anyone help me out?

Malware

A bit horrified but hoping it's not crazy bad. So i was on YouTube and typed a comment. I looked away for a few seconds to think and looked back. Then noticed an extra sentence at the bottom that was about to type something bad about a group of people. Don't want the hacker googling anything so will keep it vague. I erased it and was very confused. I was thinking some form of autocorrect or some random feature from Windows typed it but as i was just staring st the screen dumbfounded it suddenly typed another offensive word. At that point I finally realized what was going on, erased the word, disconnected from the internet and turned off the laptop.

Somethings that might help. I use edge because I'm lazy and chrome was having known bugs with my graphics card when I first got the laptop. Outside of that the main things I use this laptop for are playing games on Steam and YouTube. In terms of the cause of the virus, the 3 most notable things I've done today on the laptop is YouTube, bought, downloaded and played a Chinese game from steam, and downloaded Bannerlord and some mods from the steam workshop. The bannerlord thing was about 20ish minutes before the YouTube incident but the Chinese game is pretty sketchy yet from earlier in the day (it's an early access indie game made by 1 guy who seems pretty active in the community he built with maybe a thousand sales at most. Good reviews though). After some research, I'm starting to think it's the bannerlord mods.

I just don't know how far I need to go or how bad/how long I've even been infected. Do I just reset the laptop? Like the full reset or just the partial windows reset? Doing that would be at worst annoying for me since there's little useful data on that laptop. Or just a virus check with windows defender and uninstall the mods and the Chinese game (also get that refund). Could it just be a small part of edge or youtube that somehow got compromised and it's just a weird bot?

Sorry I'm a bit all over the place in my head.

computer wont detect wifi antennae

(attached is me attempting to open network setting and then troubleshooting the issue)

i recently got a corsair computer and attached wifi antennae to it, but my computer still isnt able to detect any networks and keeps saying that an ethernet cable isnt connected when i attempt to troubeshoot the issue. the motherboard is from 2014 im not sure if that affects it at all

fore-warning, i dont know much about computers at all and ive done the best i can, below is what ive done so far

ive downloaded intel's wifi-24.50.0-driver64 along with intel's most recent bluetooth driver on my laptop and moved it to my computer via usb drive. i also checked the corsair website and downloaded what it recommends for corsair one. still, the only thing it can detect is that the ethernet cable isnt attatched, even though im using antennae

ive tried restarting the computer multiple times, checking to see if theres any updates (i cant because i cant connect to wifi), and unplugging and re-plugging the antennae. any advice would help!

Can't seem to find motherboard for bios update

https://preview.redd.it/qm6v4g484hbh1.png?width=540&format=png&auto=webp&s=39eaab97d32c51adc68966be90e65882f7777df1

I had this prebuilt bought for me a while back and I've been having issues with safe boot so I thought "probably just needs a bios update". But when I try to find my motherboard and the the software for the update I can't seem to find anything. So for now I'm stuck trying to find this update for a motherboard that I'm starting to think doesn't exist.

Just wonder what I should do first, obviously get power cords is #1. I’m a mechanic and regularly work with diagnosis electrical components so I was wondering if anyone has any tips

Recover deleted file

In a brain fog of completing some tasks, I managed to delete/magically disappear an entire folder of my digital artwork.

I have a Windows Surface Pro 7 running Windows 11.

What can I do to try and retrieve it? This is what I've tried:

  1. Tried to restore an older version of the desktop (where it was located); I don't have one

  2. Looked into restoring earlier date of Windows; apparently that was never activated. None exist

  3. Checked Recycling bin

  4. I've run two separate recovery programs: Tenoshare4DDIG and Recuva. No luck.

I'm aghast. I don't understand how the hell I could mess up so badly.

Note: they are mostly .psd and .jpeg. After some thinking; I found some of them in Adobe Creative Cloud. But why didn't the recovery softwares work?

How to install drivers.

I have a NVIDIA RTX 3070 with a driver version of: 32.0.15.9186 on Windows 11. Intermittently, but twice today, both monitors remain black when awakening from sleep with "no signal". I have done everything I can and have come to the conclusion that to permanently fix the issue I need to install new drivers. I asked my friends and copilot on how to do this. The advice I received was to install DDU, use that, restart my PC, and then install NVIDIA's 552.22 WHQL.

I have never done this before and have a number of concerns, especially since I received some conflicting information:
A. How likely is the process to fail? I have gotten warnings that DDU won't work, it could mess up my wifi drivers, and that I might not be able to install any drivers, including my old/current version.
B: Do I install and use DDU, restart, and then install new driver? Or do I install and use DDU, install new driver, and then restart?
C: For A&B I don't know what the exact sequence of what to do.
D: I don't have the technical know-how that if this goes badly wrong I can recover from it.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks to SomeEngineer999 kind post, here is an update:
I plugged both monitors into different ports, used different HDMI cables, and ensured that all ports are clean, Cables are 4k and should be of good quality, which makes me inclined to believe it's not a hardware issue. In device manager I have updated all my drivers-they are all up to date. In control panel>hardware and sound>power options>System settings I have changed "change settings that are currently unvailable and turned off fast startup as well as hibernate. Under control panel>hardware and sound>power option>edit plan settings in "change advanced power settings" I have changed "turn off hard disk after" and set to 1,000 minutes. Oh! and I did the windows+B thing, monitors still black.

And also in advanced power settings I have changed allow hybrid sleep to off. I ran cmd powercfg /a: which gave me the result of the following sleep states are available on this system: Standby (S3) Hibernate Hybrid Sleep. Standbye s1,s2, and S0 low power state "this action is disabled in the current system policy".

After these changes the issue of awakening the computer from sleep mode still has the issue of "no signal detected" even though the pc is fully on. I finally got fed up with it because this happened twice today and while frustrating every few months happening twice in 1 day is too much.
