Completely green screen on the computer

When I booted up my computer today it was completely green. I cant see anything other that green, it doesn't even show to windows startup and loading screen. As soon as it turns of it just completely green then after a few seconds goes to black then right back to green. I can still hear my PC running like normally in the background (I hear notifications pop up and such) but I don't seem to be able to interact with anything that would usually be on my screen. I have a windows 11 if that helps.

My monitor went black

So I was playing a game and my fans were going crazy and suddenly I got a pop up a text which said that I'm not using my monitor and it's gonna turn off in 30 seconds, so I waited and it rlly did turn off. I turned my pc off and back on and everything seemed to be fine my pc was working, fans spinning, keyboard and mouse were also working and it had a blue light on the monitor itself but the screen was still black can someone help me?

Some of my friends games have terrible performance issues but his GPU usages is only 30 procent, can anyone help with this?

So when he playes games on the lowest settings he can barely get 7 fps. However when he for example looks at the sky he gets better fps. Its probably not his energie usage that is being capped because we looked at that already his grafic card is up to date and when running games his GPU sits around 85 °C.

Specs are
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500U wuth Randeon Graphics(2.10GHz)
Installed RAM: 16gb
GPU: AMD Randeon(TM)Graphics(496 MB)

The image on my monitor flickers and then gets normal

Sup reddit, i have that problem for like 2 weeks, my gpu is RTX 2060 super and its connected into my full hd monitor by hdmi cabel, the image flickers sometimes like *game* *boop blackscreen* *game* it happens randomly like one in 7 or 10 minutes and only in high-end games like Marvel's spider man remastered on ultra settings, i hoped that it might be a shitty cabel's fault, i've changed it, the result is that now its happening in a bigger time interval nothing more, please tell me what should i do, maybe switch to DP or idk, should i be worried? Would take any answers

I put my old pc ssd in my new oc now weird shit keeps happening

I got a new PC recently. I took my old Samsung 870 SSD and put it in my new PC. Now every time I boot up my PC it says scanning drives and for some reason when I boot up to the windows home screen, it says I have no Wi-Fi and I can’t login using my pin. Whenever you start my PC it works fine and lets me login. It was also making me enter in my locker code every time I booted on my PC until I disabled that. Should I just wipe the Samsung drive? Would that fix it?

HDMI connection between pc and display screen

Hello! I just moved into college and bought a custom pc from someone 2nd hand a couple of years ago. It was working fine before packing and moving but now it won't connect to our display screen (tv).

It gives me a hard time connecting via hdmi and when it finally takes away the no connection found indication, the screen is blank.

I tried 2 different hdmi cords and 2 different display screens, same issue.

Any help is appreciated

Dual set up between work laptop and personal tower

Hi, I don’t know if this is the right subreddit but I’m moving to remote work pretty soon and I’d like a docking station that has the functionality of being and to switch my two monitors from being an extended display of my work laptop to being my monitors for my pc. I’ve found a couple and am willing to spend some decent money but I did some searching and don’t know if I’m looking at the right thing. It would be something like this: https://a.co/d/0aYrs13R where I can plug both my monitors, my laptop and then my pc into and then at the press of a button or something change which main component my monitors are working off of (one displaying the pc stuff, other being an extended display of my work laptop).

Please help, unable to reinstall windows.

Bit of context PC was bought from a family friend with no issues approx 4 weeks ago started fine but with only 8gb of ram couldn’t run a lot then started to crash and BDOS errors to the point it was happening after every start up. Followed chat GPT troubleshooting and then a friend who works with pc’s said just reinstall windows but I now cannot. Here is a summary of all the things I have done. Any help would be very very very greatly appreciated!!!!!

I have listed chronologically all of the issues and repairs. Again any help would be fantastic from everyone.

>!The important error history!<

The errors we’ve now seen across the whole investigation include:
Unexpected system restarts
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (0x7E)
ntfs.sys
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (0x50)
Previous LiveKernelEvent 1A8
NVIDIA driver-related crashes/installation issues
Windows Recovery/Quick Machine Recovery loops
BitLocker recovery/boot issues following the earlier BIOS changes
Where that leaves us
The biggest finding is that the problem predates the current Windows installation and has now occurred during multiple clean Windows installation attempts.
We’ve therefore moved away from:
“Corrupted Windows installation”
towards:

“Something at the hardware/firmware level is intermittently corrupting or crashing Windows.”

The remaining hardware suspects are primarily motherboard/PCIe, CPU/memory controller, GPU, PSU and RAM, with the SSD currently looking considerably less suspicious based on the checks we’ve performed.

And importantly, we have not found evidence that the 931 GB or 238 GB storage drives are the cause, and we have deliberately avoided formatting them.

Date
Problem / error
What we did
Result
13 July 2026
BIOS changes caused Windows/BitLocker boot problems
Investigated BIOS after enabling Secure Boot/fTPM for Windows 11
BIOS/boot configuration became unstable; BitLocker recovery was repeatedly triggered
13 July
Secure Boot / fTPM issue
Checked CSM, Secure Boot, OS Type, PK state and fTPM
fTPM was eventually recognised as ready; Secure Boot/PK configuration remained problematic
13–14 July
BitLocker recovery loop
Checked BitLocker with manage-bde, including protection status and key protectors
Key protectors existed; protection status showed Off at one point; encryption was around 14.8%
14 July
Windows boot looked abnormal
Restarted after BitLocker changes
Windows eventually booted, but initial boot resolution looked stretched/pixelated
14 July
Fortnite/game instability
Investigated Windows/BIOS state following the BIOS changes
Game still froze/crashed, suggesting the problem wasn’t simply Fortnite
14 July
TPM configuration
Checked TPM/fTPM and PCR validation
TPM reported ready; PCR profile included 0, 2, 4
14–15 July
Secure Boot/BIOS configuration
Worked through ASUS BIOS settings including Windows UEFI mode, CSM, Secure Boot and fTPM
Eventually established a working UEFI configuration, but the wider system instability remained
17 Aug
PC suddenly restarting while sitting on desktop
PC was restarting without warning and returning to Windows lock screen
Established this wasn’t only happening during gaming/heavy load
17 Aug
Repeated BSOD/recovery environment
Windows Recovery showed Continue / Turn off PC / Quick Machine Recovery / Troubleshoot
Recovery options were investigated; Reset was avoided
17–18 Aug
Windows installation/recovery
Created a Windows 11 USB from Win11_25H2_English_x64_v2.iso on the SanDisk USB
USB successfully created and verified
18 Aug
Windows installer
Split the 7.1 GB install.wim into .swm files because FAT32 couldn’t hold it
install.swm ~3.9 GB and install2.swm ~3.1 GB successfully created
18 Aug
Boot USB
Verified EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.EFI existed
USB was bootable
18 Aug
Windows Setup
Initially selected Windows installation rather than repair
Installation proceeded
18 Aug
Windows installation
Deleted the old Disk 0 Windows partitions when instructed, leaving Disk 0 unallocated
Windows began a clean installation
18 Aug
Installation reached ~75–80%
First major clean-install crash
BSOD: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (0x7E); ntfs.sys
18 Aug
Recovery/installer loop
Windows Setup repeatedly returned to the “upgrade vs clean installation” prompt
Established the installer USB was being booted again rather than a completed Windows installation
18 Aug
RAM investigation
Confirmed original crashes occurred with 2 × 4 GB, then tested 16 + 4 GB, then 16 GB alone
Crashes persisted; 16 GB alone was running at 2133 MHz
18 Aug
RAM slot
Moved 16 GB Corsair Vengeance from B1 → A1
BIOS detected 16,384 MB DDR4 at 2133 MHz normally

18 Aug
Resizable BAR test
Temporarily changed Resizable BAR Auto → Disabled
No improvement
18 Aug
Third clean installation
Tested Windows installation with Resizable BAR disabled
Crashed much earlier, around 30%
18 Aug
Third major BSOD
Same installation test
Again SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (0x7E) / ntfs.sys

Can anyone tell me what’s wrong with my pc

I’ve tried everything from buying a new keyboard to factory resetting my entire pc yet the problem still persists. I’ve been using ctrl alt delete to temporarily fix the issue but it comes back in minutes. My pc has had this problem for probably 2-3 months and still can’t find a fix. I also checked my entire device for any kind of malware using Malwarebytes.

Recurring BSODs (KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR + KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED)

Laptop: Dell Inspiron 14 5430 SSD: KIOXIA KBG50ZNS1T02 (1TB NVMe, OEM/removable M.2 2230)

The problem: Getting recurring BSODs specifically when running Chrome + YouTube tabs simultaneously — high load/paging scenario.
Started a few months ago, getting more frequent.
Like at first it was like if i moved my laptop it gave kernel data inpage error but then like in the past 3 days critical error and kernel data inpage errors came up frequently and like the laptop will login but then after that it hangs up.

Took it to service center — they fixed stuff but when i started working this came up again.

Crash details from Event Viewer:
KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (0x7A)
Parameter 2: 0xC000009C (STATUS_DEVICE_DATA_ERROR — bad sectors)

KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (0x7A)
Parameter 2: 0x0 (STATUS_SUCCESS, ambiguous)

After that i did all the stuff given below:

CrystalDiskInfo: shows “Good,” 96% life, but Media and Data Integrity Errors (SMART ID 0E) = 99, Error Log Entries (ID 0F) = 317

HD Tune surface scan: 0% damaged blocks

chkdsk /f /r /x on C: — found only 4KB in bad sectors, fixed some file system corruption (MFT bitmap)

chkdsk on D: and E: — 0 bad sectors on both

After chkdsk:
Then I like it was fine for like a few hours. Like 5 hrs i think. Btw in that time i was training like models in google colab env and had many chrome tabs opens, file explorer , git etc etc etc.

Then this came up
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (0x1E)
Parameter 1: 0xC0000006 (STATUS_IN_PAGE_ERROR — same disk read failure, different code path)

Soooo. What should I do???

Anyone dealt with KIOXIA BG-series OEM SSDs specifically failing early?

Is a fresh Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB swap the right call here, or is there anything else worth checking before I spend the money?

Task Manager and Command Prompt are broken

Today, I installed a simple game from itch.io and, as a result, I got multiple viruses, blocked by Windows Defender. That seems unusual, as the game is a student game from the school I attended; there's no need to be concerned.

I tried to uninstall the game: when finding it in Windows Apps and pressing Uninstall, I think it mentioned dw20.exe as the program that would be uninstalled. I didn't pay attention as I just wanted to get rid of it.

I never manage to uninstall the game properly. I just delete files from Programs

As a result, my PC is working correctly, BUT Task Manager, Command Prompt, and other systems are broken.

  • Ctrl + Alt + Suppr -> Task Manager -> It opens the System32 file
  • Command Prompt -> Doesn't open from the shortcut. If I click on it from the System32 folder (cmd.exe), it works, but if I open it as Administrator, dw20.exe tries to execute. If I say yes, nothing happens, and the Command Prompt remains closed.
  • Same for Task Manager opened with "taskmgr.exe" in System32 (no Admin mod)
  • Their icons are broken. Folder Explorer icon is also broken but works as normal.

So... :

- I tried using Command Prompt from Safe Mode (Pressing Shift when starting the computer). I typed "sfc /scannow". Errors were found and "fixed" but when restarting the computer, nothing changed.

- I asked Gemini and tried other things :

  • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth ->doesn't work ; Cleanup-Image isn't found
  • reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\taskmgr.exe" /f ->the system can't find it

What can I do? Besides that, everything (afaik) works correctly.

Thanks!

Strange glitches on the screen of a new PC.

I bought a new computer, and on the second day of use, strange glitches started appearing on the screen. I tested it on another monitor, and the result was the same. I don't know what it could have been.

These glitches disappear as soon as I restart the PC, but it's frustrating, especially since the PC is new. Does anyone else with the same problem have any tips on how to solve it?

PC configuration:

Processor: Ryzen 5600gt

GPU: Vega 7

Memory: 8x2 2666mhz

(I'm using a translator to make this post, sorry if there are any spelling errors.

Computer broken?

Hey everyone, or someone who might know, I have this HP ProBook x360 440 G1 computer. It suddenly went out. When I plug it in and hold the power button, only the F11 key comes on. Sometimes, when I hold down the Windows key and press B, the Caps Lock light starts blinking for a quick second, and the F10 key also begins to blink. I’m starting to think it might be a RAM issue, but when I took the computer apart, there wasn’t anything wrong with the RAM.

Problem with GPU

I have an RX 5700 XT, E5-2680 v4, 2x4GB DDR4, and a 500GB HDD; a green screen appears whenever I launch games. However, on my main PC paired with an R5 7500F, everything is fine and the 5700 XT works correctly. It also performs normally in benchmarks when paired with the Xeon. Undervolting didn't help. I tried reinstalling the drivers and removing the old ones, but that yielded no results either. What could be causing this, and how can I fix it?

I accidentally spilled tea

Today morning I was drinking tea while laptop was closed just next to me and I accidentally spilled tea ok the trackpad...

I cleaned it asap left it for an hour and then I had to attend a meeting but it did make that normal clicking sound on the trackpad... Very unusual...

So I decided to open it, removed the battery, took a look on the trackpad (the blue board) but found nothing...

So I decided to leave it open for a while, cleaned it again, turned it on... The clicks don't work...
And now Im unable to clip back the back near the trackpad

Can someone please help? I bought this laptop used (imported) it's not cheap for me to fix it or replace it

More info: HP EliteBook 645 G9 16GB / 256GB

Dual booting Windows 11 PRO and Fedora 44 both have the same issue so it's definitely not a software issue
