My disappointment with the Sainsbury’s taste the difference meal deal sandwich is immeasurable. Thought I’d treat myself and try the “steak” sandwich. Onion bread, caramelised onions, onion chutney, gravy mayo, steak. Sounds beautiful on paper. A symphony. A feast. A reason to keep going.

Let’s start with the “steak”. This was not steak. This was roast beef, that smelt like tuna flaps, desperately trying to be someone its not and disappointing its whole family. Don’t you dare call it steak. Not that there was much meat in there anyway.

The gravy mayo? Missing in action. I genuinely forgot it was even supposed to exist while eating it.

The caramelised onions were somehow both wet and bland at the same time, at one point i believed a slug had managed to crawl itself inside the packaging and die but someone how i think that would have tasted better than whatever that was, passing of as caramelised onion.

The bread was the only redeeming quality, purely because it absorbed and diluted the horrific flavour combination unfolding inside it like a brave sponge sacrificing itself for the greater good, yet even still i don't believe i would even wipe my ass with it.

This sandwich was a disappointment. I genuinely believe I would have had a more enjoyable dining experience simply starving to death.
