How to prevent my characters from always hating each other in DD2?

Hey guys. You might have seen my meme from yesterday in which I reached the mountain for the first time and ended up with five negative relationships (and was informed I could have gotten an achievement if I had six instead 😤) and well….. it happened again.

I did actually managed to beat denial on that very run (rest in peace my occultist), but I found myself on my very next run facing the same problem. Another five negative relationships (god damn it), and now I’m definitely screwed because more of them are hateful than envious.

My question is, how can I best avoid this? I try to avoid oblivion points wherever I go, and I always buy and play cards at the inn. But yet, it seems all too easy for my relationships to slowly trickle down from petty and uncontrolled arguments in the stagecoach or constant meltdowns from my other members. Any advice?

What is “crit 0 bleed?”

I recently started playing DD2 after polling this subreddit on whether or not I should buy it. I haven’t played too much of the first game but I’m enjoying the second.

Anyway I got pretty tired of using vestal since she felt pretty weak to me as both a healer and a debuffer/ranged attacker (at least the wanderer path so I figured I’d try out occultist since his description says he is also a healer.

I’ve been having a back and forth of my friend who has shown me a few things to make my game experience better, and I was celebrating because I was on a particularly difficult fight in the sprawl and my occultist got a 55 HP critical heal on my death’s door Flagellant, so I was thinking to myself “I’ll never use another healer again.” The very next turn my Hellion is at death’s door so I use wyrd reconstruction again, but even though I got a crit, it healed for ZERO hp and inflicted my hellion with a stack of bleed, killing her on her next turn.

I was more baffled than anything but found it to be considerably hilarious, and told my friend about it. He just told me to google “crit 0 bleed.” I don’t know why he wants me to look it up, but I haven’t yet just because I figured it would be funny to share this scenario anyway.

Although it could be using it ironically, which would also be ironic lmao

Should I buy darkest dungeon 2?

Every few months or so I hear someone talk about darkest dungeon and how amazing it is. I finally decided to buy it and give it a try, especially since it’s the steam summer sale right now.

I went to buy the first game and it’s bundled dlc but saw a slightly more expensive bundle that includes the second game. Out of curiosity, I checked the reviews for the game, and to my absolute surprise I saw that they were mixed.

I haven’t played either game yet, but why is DD2 less liked than the first game? Should I only buy the first and its DLCs?

To anyone who has ever gotten a brawler to prestige 3….. just how

The moment I played bolt for the first time I knew I had found a true main after playing the game super off and on for around 7 years. I instantly got him to prestige 1 and, for the first time in my life, thought “yes, I WILL take the time to get this same brawler to prestige 2!” And grinded out the 1000 trophies all in one day.

Then when I got the red icon, I thought, “yeah, let’s just push him to max! I’ve never even gotten a brawler to prestige 2 before!”

The first thing I noticed was that I only got 10 trophies from winning my game of 5v5 wipeout instead of the previous 20 from each win due to my 15-something win streak. Ok. I figured they probably disabled win streak bonuses to make the final push harder, but whatever. Then my next match was a loss, and I lost 10 trophies. So it was an even split, meaning no matter what I had to win more than I lost to climb. Alright.

The next thing I noticed was the further win penalties. Past 2250 trophies, I only got 8 from a win and 10 from a loss. Past 2500, I only got SIX.
The third and final thing I’ve noticed so far in my push is how much of a slog matchmaking is. Since I’ve reached a point in which I’m only be paired with other prestige 2 players, a single brawl ball lobby can take 7 or 8 minutes to fill. And if I lose two matches in a row? I’ve just lost roughly 45 minutes to an hour of progress in two games. The “push” feels more like a “pull” in the other direction.

So to anyone who has p3ed a brawler…how? I’m assuming once I hit 2750 trophies I’ll only get FOUR trophies per win, and I really can’t fathom the idea of needing to win three matches for every loss just to gain +2 trophies. How do you guys do it?

Bolt is a step in the right direction for brawler design, even if he’s hard to balance

I’ve felt that brawler design lately has been considerably stale, with a lot of brawlers feeling like they are just a mixup of other brawler’s identities. Especially with Starr nova, who recycled mechanics from the buzz light year event and such. Of course, with over a hundred brawlers in the game, you’re bound to see similar ideas pop up.

Bolt, while I’d imagine will be incredibly difficult to tune without making him busted or useless, is what I can confidently say a 100% unique brawler. He’s the first brawler to have an attack that technically isn’t even an attack (if you’re not moving when you “fire.” He’s a 100% contact damage dealing brawler, an identity which somehow hasn’t been explored until now.

While I feel that his speed reduction on sharp turns is a bit too sensitive right now, he clearly has a niche on large open maps. And I’ve been having so much fun with him. I mean, he’s basically a giant bowling ball.
