iRacing Base Flame Decals (GIMP)

iRacing Base Flame Decals (GIMP)

If anyone wants to use the base flame paints for a design, I found the hard way that you can't just lock the alpha channel and repaint. Rookie move but hey, I'm still learning lol.

The way I got around this was by opening the trading paints paint builder. Here you can set one of the iRacing default paints, and change their colors with no problem. Then export as TGA and open as a layer somewhere above the "base" layer. Hope this helps someone! If there's a better way as well, leave it below

Driver 474 + Fanalab vs Fanatec App

For context, I'm still running the Driver 474 Control Panel and Fanalab pairing due to the whole mess that was the Fanatec App release and have had very few issues. I know there were a whole bunch of issues recently with the release of fullforce, and wanted to know if it was worth the upgrade at the moment? Are there glaring issues etc?

The reason I ask is Fanalab is starting to show it's age, specifically not being able to autoload iRacing profiles such as the new 992 cup and other recently released cars.

Running custom numbers vs sim-stamped on same car

Context - I've created 2 versions of the C8 GT3.R, one containing a custom number (Photo 1) that covers the IMSA required scoring card and looks stupid, and a sim-stamped version (2)

I want to run the custom number for almost everything. DTM, GT Sprint, you get the idea, but have the sim stamped set for IMSA when the board is required. I've tried to set this up in the leagues section, but there's no way for me to override the custom number league selection with a sim - stamped version. Any workarounds?

Drastically different aero characteristics in prototypes?

Apologies if I've been living under a rock for the past 2 weeks, but just did my first IMSA of the new season last night. I read Dev Blog and they keep mentioning aero improvements and I assume this might be part of it. Throughout the entire race, it felt as though dirty air was more prevalent than last season, especially off the back of LMP2's. Again, I could just be making this up trying to cope with my lack of skill lol.

I also noticed side drafting has a massive effect. Was running behind a Caddie in the Acura up the hill to the bus stop and as soon as I was able to get overlap on his rear corner and force the side draft when we exited the esses, I was able to get my nose ahead before the bus stop. Never experienced this before. Didn't think to get a replay.

For those that ran the Majors 24, what were your thoughts on the randomized safety cars?

Wanted to see what some of the community thought about the implementation of randomized safety cars. Was it better than a normal special event? Would you rather it be based on incident points?

More night races please!

Anyone else feel like the past few seasons have been lacking night races? I get that the majority of races that happen take place during the day time. However, I think it’d be fun to run Spa, Road America, Laguna, and others at night time once in a while.

Anyone else agree?

Stutters since at least mid last week?

So, last week I ran a few Road Atlanta races including enduro, and everything seemed to be fine there. However, when I joined GT practice at VIR last Wednesday, and the Nurb races this week, I'm getting stutters. Everything ran fine before last week.

CPU:13700

GPU:4070 Ti Super

RAM:32GB - 6000

Monitors: Triple 1440p

Framerate is consistently above monitor refresh rate (I know there could be some 1% lows or something that it's missing), GPU utilization seems to drop from 99% to 70% when they occur. It seemed to start happening after a windows update (of course) but I'm not too sure of that.

Has this started happening to anyone else? Will file support ticket later tonight if this doesn't result any meaningful conclusions.
