Just as I was thinking how weird it is that no one cares if you enter their house uninvited:

I love this game in large part because of it's gritty realism but it took me 15 hours to remember you basically *have* to invade people's homes to get a lot of the quests. It's very jarring, in such a desperate and paranoid climate, to find people calmly greeting you after you enter uninvited.

Finally replaying after 11 years. What qualifies as a vessel? (POE)

I just claimed Caed Nua and have seen several references to vessels (skills or bonuses that increase damage against them) but can't find anything in the journal saying what they are. I did some quick searches but couldn't find a definitive answer, though it seems that physical undead and constructs count?

What ever happened to mini maps?

I've played at least three games in the past year that have opted for blank "radar" instead of a mini map, and I don't understand why. In reality a person has spatial awareness that video games can't recreate and mini maps have been a great way to mitigate that problem. These new "radars" that have been replacing them are mostly useless; they don't have rangefinders or height indicators, and they show you things your character can't even see!

I get that a fantasy game having (basically) gps can seem weird, but the same games give you a map that tells you where you are and has quest markers on it. What's the difference? How does my Envoy (Avowed) know there is a crafting material behind a wall that's on top of a cliff?

Give us back our mini maps!

Edit: I'm seeing a lot of upvotes, but most of the comments are argumentative. If you agree chime in! The vocal minority is taking over our hobby!

Android - my home page has consistently been limited to five or six cards for a few days now, or it will only show posts from one sub.

Forcing stop and clearing cache does not fix the problem. Refreshing leads to a blank page. This has repeatedly been an issue with this app for years.

Question about TG's Galactic Harvest and Gastronomy perk.

I've been running this for a couple weeks now and have started to notice that some recipes aren't showing up at my cooking station. Specifically - I just got some trapmaw meat and couldn't find a recipe for it so I did a search and Google said there is a dish called Trapmaw Stew you can make with it, but it isn't in any of my cooking menus.

I did a bunch of searches and couldn't find anything so I asked the AI for help. Sadly, it kept telling me different things; one time it said I needed Gastronomy Perk, then contradicted itself, and when I confronted it it backtracked and said I didn't need it. Then, about five inquiries later, it said I DO need one point in the perk to unlock research.

So which is it!? Do I need Gastronomy or not? I've spent the better part of the last hour trying to figure this out.

When your ship matches the planet.

The ship (another modified Star Eagle), actually has burgundy accents, but the light here makes them look brown; you can see the difference if you zoom in.

Also, it looks like I landed on a Rimworld planet.

Help with TG's Galactic Harvest

I've been running this mod for about a week now and have watched a couple of videos but there are still things that are unclear to me and I can't find a guide that isn't a video so I have some questions.

  1. I put a 4x4 plot in my cargo hold and put a bunch of seeds in it but only one type grew. Is there a limit to how many plants you can put in them or can you only put one type of plant in them?

  2. I have collected 10 or more of several types of vegetables but can't find hydroponic bays (or pots or whatever they are) in any of the tabs. I have a few "origin plants" in pots I can place, but most of them don't fit in my ship. Is there a step I'm missing?

  3. I can't find the storage crates either...

  4. Does the Gastronomy perk add recipes to GH or is that skill kind of obsolete now?

If anyone has a link to a text-based guide for this mod it would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: I figured out that Star UI was breaking the build menu (details in comments). PraxisUI seems to be working fine, but I would like to add that I had to search for the mod by name (on PS5) to find it; it isn't in the UI menu and searching for UI returns 0 results. If I didn't know it existed I wouldn't have found it.

It's not a multiverse, it's a time loop!

I'm deep into new game pluses and the overall concept of a multiverse just doesn't hold up. The Hunter and the Emissary are always there, and despite their claims of living different lives/making different choices they always do the same things and seem to have no memory of your previous encounters (even if you don't kill them). Even if you end up in a "variant universe" there is only ever one difference (it's not like you find a universe where the UC won the last war or something).

The only thing that really makes sense is that you are trapped in a time loop and the Unity is a method to restart the loop while retaining your knowledge and skills. The Starborn are simply mistaken and believe they have access to a multiverse. The variations occur as different people use the unity.

I was telling a friend of mine this theory and they pointed out that the Starfield logo has a big circle going from the T to the L; Time Loop. Did Todd drop a hint right in our faces and no one noticed?

Thoughts?

The passage of time (or) A reason to wait

One of the biggest immersion breakers for me is when a game ignores the passage of time. When the Terrormorphs attack the New Atlantis Spaceport you can leave the planet, land immediately and everything is back to normal and you can ask people how they've been doing since the attack.

These kinds of temporal breaks plague Starfield, which is weird since several quests make you wait for the next step to begin. I think it would do a great service to immersion if someone could make a mod that delays things like this, and certain quests steps. It's kinda weird that you can do, for example, the entire Freestar Ranger questline in one or two in-game days, or when Ryujin "lets you choose your own hours". I honestly wish stores had hours, too.

PS5, please.
