Nerve pain in tailbone after falling
Hello. I am a 20yo who was AFAB. My pronouns are he/him. I am 5’2 1/2, and I weigh 169 pounds. Im not sure what all info is helpful, but I have hypermobility, depression, anxiety, Tourette’s syndrome, ptsd, adhd, autism, and exercise induced asthma. I take Sertraline (10mg in morning) and Guanfacine (1.5mg in the morning and 1mg in the afternoon). I occasionally vape. I had a heart murmur until I was 12, and I’ve have a floaty in my eye for like a year now.
For some background, I am pretty sure I fractured my tailbone in the 6th grade. I was flipping around a metal bar on the playground - which I did everyday - but I slipped or accidentally let go of the bar and went flying backwards off of the bar. As I was falling off of the bar, I hit the top of my head and my tailbone HARD. I had trouble standing the rest of the school day, and I had pain in my tailbone the weeks following this accident. I needed to sit on a pillow anytime I sat down to reduce the pain I was in. I’m pretty sure I had trouble walking, and I think my tailbone hurt all the time. I told my parents, but they said there was nothing a doctor could do for me. I am pretty sure I also pinched a nerve when this happened because that was my main source of pain.
As the years went by, the pain was just occasional and mostly subsided. My tailbone has only pinched a nerve maybe 3 times in the past few years, but I have been having small flare ups recently. I have been roller skating once a week, so I am building leg muscles and loosing weight. Well last time I went skating, I fell extremely hard on my right upper ass cheek near my tailbone. As soon as I got home, a pinched nerve in my tailbone started hurting whenever I walked. But today, I had trouble walking all together. Every time I took a step, a nerve would pinch in my tailbone. I could not walk without holding on to something.
I had some time a year ago where I had to walk with a cane because the medication I was on made me dizzy, but that ended a year ago and I haven’t had to use my cane again until today. The nerve pain is so bad. I am limping all around the house, so much so that I have to hold on to walls to help me keep balance while I limp. Whenever I went out of the house today, I had to use my cane to keep balance. I was taking extremely small steps to minimize the pain, and I was walking very slowly.
I don’t have insurance, and this pain is so severe it hurts to move and I don’t know if I can go to work. If this pain doesn’t get better, I think I have to go to the doctor because I can’t deal with this. Is there any way to relieve the pain I am in? What is wrong exactly, and is there anything I can do about it without putting myself in debt? I’m a college student with 2k to my name and that’s it. I an nearly on the edge of breaking down because I hate this feeling. I haven’t been in this much pain in years, and I want the pain to go away.
Any and all help is appreciated.
