Drag Me to Hell is the best Evil Dead flick post-Ash

Not 'The Mummy', not 'Other Mommy', not 'Resident Evil'

No, guess what, the next best thing to Evil Dead came from the guy that made Evil Dead. Whodda thunk-it?

Idk why I slept on Drag Me to Hell for so long, I just watched it as part of the Season of Screams event.

It's Raimi at his finest.

Heavy spoilers for a nearly 20yr old flick

The protagonist - Kinda nice but you can see under the surface their moral weaknesses. They get thrown around enough to finally be pissed off enough to fight back (regardless of whether it helps)

We see Ash's car in the film (would have loved to see a cameo of Bruce maybe in the diner but hey what can you do).

The cinematography is Raimi to a T, the angles the are what sells it, the lighting in the cemetery scene. It just all felt right when mixed with music that just felt so...true to form.

Not to mention the physical gags, the demon is a jackass. Loves tormenting people, the comedy of the fights and throwing this girl around. The physical prop work is so strong (the 3D is absolute garbage I'll say that)

At this point I believe gypsies are just...I don't know kandarian demon magic and that's how they work. Idk, they're the living descendants of the Dark Ones I guess idc.

But that bit with the handkerchief going down her throat? That's pure Evil Dead kandarian nonsense.

The reason however this is purely an Evil Dead film is the bit where the assistant gets possessed. When he's floating in the air and dancing around, this is a Deadite, you can't tell me otherwise

The ending - remember, ash is supposed to be dead at the end of ED1, the only reason he came back was because it was a sequel. Did Christine deserve it? ...eh, she killed a kitten she personally owned so she can kinda fuck off.

I'm not saying Ash wouldn't kill a cat, but it wouldn't be his cat, it'd be the crazy cat lady or some rich dude, or a snot nosed brat...and the cat would probably come back possessed.

Fact is, nothing film wise has scratched this itch of the original trilogy. Not even Rise which is (to me) the funniest of the newest films.

It's great, if you haven't seen it then give it a shot, if you haven't watched it in a while give it another run.

Skyrim Answered!

Latest CnC got my question answered...kind of

Apparently we can be pissed off in two years if skyrim isn't done because Crendor got the goalpost moved due to poor research (the original tweet was 5 years ago jesse hit 1 mill 3 years ago).

Did Jesse ever finish his reaction to Alien State of the Union?

I'm going through the episodes and he mentioned doing part 1, but I looked at the patreon (as I was going to sub to it so I could listen to the reaction) but can't find anymore than part 1.

Is it titled differently or did it go the way of Skyrim where he just lost interest/got distracted?

Thanks for your time.

C7 - Notes from Gencon 2026 Seminar

No notebook train of typing speed notes

This is being recorded so I'm not telling you anything special afaik

((Fantasy was first it was a 40th anniversary seminar after all))

Two more books for Sylvania nemesis and adventure -- morr doesn't go to Sylvania they get killed too fast

Would like to do dark elf campaign but no firm plans

5th edition is a thing not 4.5 due to confusion of what's changed. Changes are under the good but it's meant to be firmly backwards compatible same names but it's about tweaks under the hood grabbed out rules from 4e supp books and made them core for 5e lot of specific cases that got clarified and put in one place -- skulduggery specifically multi stepness of tests are clarified down for simplicity example success level tables for dos or dof not exhaustive but enough -- more broadly applicable examples dropped resolve folded into fate/fortune talents don't give sl bonus -- blather was brought up specifically as changed advantage now can be had on any test -- combat advantage is called momentum it rolls forward with successes like +20% or something --- removing tracking of it was the point of simplifying it and taking out whiff factor/increase speed progression is more simply tracked by filling in dots overall -- generation by random does give you a few choice specific bumps of choice from the results

Old world is intended as a separate thing specifically still rules wise wfrp is a pedigree of rules that has a feeling and that feeling is meant to be kept around

4th/5th releases are meant to flow with each other

New campaign - not 5 part 3 is enough -- ostermark

Hoping to do something commemorative for the 40th

Working on marianburg

Foundry release is priority to be next to core release new core module but should plug and play

Same timeframe setting wise

Other eras of history plan to explore (end times or mordheim)? fun but nothing firm planned -- fear and loathing in mordheim

TS knows his lore (talked about mordheim for a bit - very old even further than old world setting)

HH basically reconfirmed information recently heard loyal and traitor at base -- and I think loyal traitors too not 100% (that's a personal thought) personal scale then move to joining larger would love to do knights of grey of the sigilite how's the timeframe of the heresy work -- time is a bit loosey goosey all things considered --- don't technically need to follow canon (what if scenarios?)

IM rogue trader dynasty next new campaign in the works and a fascinating source book (macharian sector and secrets conspiracies)

Wng orks - soon but on schedule ships? (Still loosely noted) book to wrap up Gilead apocalyptic -- move to Sanctus space

Post seminar just talking (so take with grain of salt) The recoding may not get out soon gw needs to ok it

Need to finish threat assessment (imperium?)

Super heavies fell by the wayside kind of so sort of up in the air

I'm honestly really gutted Jesse still hasn't done that Skyrim playthough

It's been half a decade at this point since the 1 million subs promise!

Idk, just sad I guess. I feel like if he just sat down and did it then he'd be finished, but last I recall him commenting on it he was consistently wanting to get mods to get it "looking good" and he's going to have to replay the whole thing at this point anyways because there's no way he remembers wtf was going on.

Just feels like overhtinking.

Anthem Blue Cross keeps force changing PCP to an out of network doctor?

Hello,

I just recently got on Blue Cross (anthem) and they want me to choose a PCP. They assigned me one (I guess as placeholder).

Said assignment is out of network (which I found weird) both of them are as there are two on the "care team"

I put in four separate requests to change to my actual PCP and it keeps getting force changed back?

I'm curious as to if anyone else had this problem and what a solution could be?

Edit: Follow-up information. I can choose my doctor but the system sees this as choosing someone else and even when looking at the little "?" in the corner it recognizes my previous choice as "reassigning" my PCP to this new doctor I've never once even heard of. My current PCP is family/internal medicine, idk if that codes it differently for Anthem and therefore refuses to see them as a PCP?

Do we know the "secret source" of Article 4 of the Boston Bugle?

I don't recall if it ever got revealed up to this point who knew about the Enclave and told that close to the war breaking out?

I couldn't find anything in '76 notes that may have revealed it, but I could have easily missed it.

Was wondering if it was ever given much of a solid answer?

Thanks for your time.

Probably a silly idea for a new Saw, but hear me out

A group of...ner-do-wells break into a trap-house set up who knows when. But it's essentially automated.

It's more generic in sense, but in the way the tapes were recorded and the traps work out it's oddly fitting for everyone who ends up in them.

They have to do the traps to get out of the "trap-house" but we can't really know "when" the game is set or who's even still alive at this point to be running the game (hence the automation)

John wanted an immortal legacy, reasonably that'd have to be continuable beyond the death of every apprentice, so the house is made to "forge" a new disciple out of the survivor.
