What to do with a needy cat that doesnt let you sleep?

We don't own cats or grew up with one. A friend asked that we watch theirs for 10 days. We like cats/animals and said yes.

Buddy is a siam cat and very social and chill during the day. Loves his cuddles and talking to you. We tried to sleep with him for the first night but he would jump around while we try to sleep and try to cuddle bumping into our hands etc. In the morning he would bump into his with more force to get us awake. Maybe 4-6h sleep.

So next night we closed the door he protested a bit but then went quiet. Next thing in the morning at 6 to 5 am same story. Loud meowing and scratching on the wall, I got up thought it was bec of food and refilled it and went back to sleep after cuddling him aswell. He would maybe wait 20 min before he went at it again. This went down the last 3 days aswell so it isnt solely because he is hungry. We now started to hang out in shifts so one of us can get sleep.

Idk what to do we are both remote workers and our daily rythm is sleeping from around 1-2 a.m. to 9 a.m. because of our guest we are getting sleep deprived. We were interested in a cat before but not anymore lol.

Any idea how we can survive the next 6 days, any Tipps? We tried earbuds but he can go for hours and we hear him anyway.

Can you mute vc and chat? Will I miss anything of value?

While I do play competive MOBAs and shooters I do it for fun and toxicity in chat or voice ruins it for me.

Thats why I tend to avoid games were I can't mute it. Might be egotistical toward teammates who genuinely try to work togheter but I noticed I enjoy those games more that way.

How dependant is this game on communication? Can you mute your teammates and other players?
