Finally pulled the trigger on my first Mossberg! I've been doing a lot of research for super reliable pump-action shotguns and finally decided on the 590A1 7-Shot variant. I also decided to take off the synthetic stock and forend and replace it with the walnut or Retrograde version instead. Just think it looks better!
Forgive me if this seems like a dumb question since I'm only getting into Milsurps.
Like the title said, I have a 1916 Spanish Mauser converted to 7.62x51/.308 and I am using a .308 snap cap to test load it. When I load a single round into the internal magazine, it usually just jumps or springs out of the gun. In other words it won't sit in the gun and if it does manage to sit, slight movements to the gun will make the round spring out of the gun.
I have two snap caps so when I load more than one, it seems perfectly fine. When I eject the second to the last round, the final round also jumps out as well.

I asked the store if I can use commercial .308 and they said I should be able to but after doing a little research, it says that I shouldn't as it is dangerous and will blow up. I was looking into other alternatives like PMC 7.62x51 NATO as their pressure is about 50,000. Is it really okay to use commercial .308 or should I use PMC's ammo? Or is there another alternative that I should use?

Putting my FFL03 to work and got some more 7.62x54R. Even with all of my AR's and striker fired pistols, the Mosin is still one of my cheapest (just the gun lol) and fun guns to shoot.
