Idea for a PvP Mode: King of the Hill - Outpost
Teams fight to capture and hold a designated position, earning points for every second they control it. Once a set number of points has been earned at one location, the zone moves somewhere else. The match lasts around ten minutes, and the team with the most points when the timer expires wins.
To keep matches balanced, players cannot bring any gear into the mode. Instead, each shell has its own preset loadout. Weapons can still be found and picked up during the match, and perhaps loadouts could even be upgraded through a system similar to Vault Breaker.
Each player would also have a limited number of lives, perhaps five per match. After using all of them, that player is eliminated for the remainder of the game. Respawns are important because, without them, a team could be effectively knocked out after its first PvP encounter, and would make third partying the main strat which is not what we want. on the flip side, Infinite respawns, would encourage players to throw themselves into fights without much thought. So the limited lives would create a good middle ground.
Better gear could also be found from the typical events, locked boxes, or guarded by Wardens at different locations around the map, forcing teams to make strategic choices: pursue stronger equipment, or stay focused on controlling the zone and earning points?
And similar to Vault Breaker, none of the items and equipment can be taken back to your vault but you earn a currency that you can spend to buy weapons and equipment for your general game runs.
