Help me pick an EV for 40% city / 60% highway + regular 120 km commute (Budget ~₹22L)
Hi all, looking for some practical advice on my first EV purchase.
Use case / driving pattern:
- Location: Based in Northeast India
- Usage split: ~40% city, ~60% highway
- Regular route: House to factory site is ~120 km one way (so 240 km round trip on days I don’t charge in between)
- I plan to keep the car for the long term (8–10 years) so battery health, service network and real-world range matter more than gimmick features.
Budget:
- Around ₹22 lakh (can stretch a bit if it really makes sense for my use case).
Cars I’m currently considering:
- MG Windsor EV Essence Pro
- Mahindra XEV 9S – 79 kWh Pack (Pack 1/Above)
- Mahindra BE 6 79 kWh – Pack Two
- Tata Sierra EV – 75 kWh (Adventure / Accomplished)
What I’m looking for help with:
Given my use case (40% city, 60% highway, regular 120 km one way to factory):
- Which of these is the most sensible long-term highway commuter rather than just the most “flashy” new launch?
- Is the MG Windsor EV simply too city-focused for this pattern even though it’s cheaper?
- Between Mahindra XEV 9S, Mahindra BE 6, and Tata Sierra EV, which platform looks better for:
- Real-world range at 90–100 km/h cruise
- Battery warranty and degradation over 8–10 years
- Service support and parts availability in smaller cities / Northeast
- If there is a better option around ₹22L that I’m missing (like Curvv EV / Creta EV / Nexon EV LR etc.), I’m open to suggestions as long as it realistically handles my 120 km one-way highway run without range anxiety.
Would love inputs from owners who do regular intercity/highway runs in their EV. Thanks in advance – happy to share more details on terrain/charging options if that helps.
