I just found the subreddit, thought you guys would appreciate it! I believe it’s from the mid 70s.
I've been researching around nearby states and I found several identifying features between the two, namely the (one)-two missing molars.
(I will be directly copy/pasting correlating info from NamUs)
John Doe: (#UP154561)
Date Body Found: April 8th, 2023 - Seminole, AL
(Estimated Year of Death - 2023)
Age: Adult - Pre 40 Years
Race/Ethnicity: Hispanic/Latino Male
Height: 5'-0"-5'6"
Weight: 122 - 152 lbs Estimated
Hair Color: Black
"Victim was missing one or two molars from earlier in life. Lower Mandible."
(Clothes were found with John Doe (see #UP link), but I didn't think they were very relevant in regards to Deny with 11 years having passed.)
Deny Ernesto Alcantara Cordero: (#MP18906)
Date Last Contact: January 3rd, 2012 - Hidalgo, TX
Missing Age: 26
Race/Ethnicity: Hispanic/Latino Male
Height: 5'0"-6'0"
Weight: 100-200 lbs
Hair Color: Black
"Dark to light brown skin; mole on forehead; just had two molars removed."
"According to the family, the last time they talked to Deny was between the 23rd and 25th of March. His destination was Houston, Texas. Family states that he told them he was OK and waiting for the coyote (guide) to tell them when to cross the Rio. He was in Reynosa and the coyote had called them on April 2nd (probably of the same year) to tell the family he couldn't keep up with walking and had stayed behind. This happened April 1st on a Sunday. After the coyote told the family, they attempted to find him in jail assuming he was detained by immigration, however they never found him."
I also came across this post from the Baldwin County Sheriff's official FB page regarding more information on the circumstances of death — "On April 8, 2023, deputies responded to a tragic discovery along Highway 90 in Seminole, Alabama. A hunter found a deceased man in the wood line near a hunting camp off Sawmill Road. The decedent was in a moderate state of decomposition. An autopsy was conducted and ruled the manner of death as a homicide. Despite extensive efforts using fingerprint and DNA databases, he has not yet been identified."
Along with the two missing molars, I think that the face shape is very similar. From the jaw/chin, to the ears. If Deny shaved the sides of his head, I'd imagine his ears would protrude the same. The slight downturn of the corner of his eyes. One thing I noticed though, there was no mention of piercings on the John Doe.
My main concern is the distance between Seminole and Hidalgo. However, if he did manage to make it to Houston, there's a chance he'd made it all the way to Seminole, but I'm not sure. A lot can happen in 11 years.
I will be submitting a tip when it rolls over to the daylight hours.
Edit to add: I apologize for my formatting, I don't post text heavy posts very often
Edit 2: I did contact the number in the Sheriff Department's FB post, but I ended up having to leave a message with the Criminal Investigation unit. They haven't gotten back to me yet. I'll try again tomorrow, but if there's still no answer, I'll contact after 4th of July weekend. I'm sure they'll have their hands full this weekend.
