40M, Question about “their turn” etiquette

New to the app. I’m a 40 year old straight dude.

So I sent out about a dozen roses with messages to women, usually either jokes to get a laugh or questions regarding pictures…

Got a couple matches!

My conundrum is this:

Both of these matches show up under a tab called “their turn”

and that makes sense, because both ladies liked the message I sent them which was a question such as “you mentioned hiking, where is a good place to hike around here?” Or “Cool picture, what lake is that?”

My past experience on dating apps however has always been that as the man you are expected to make the effort to start the conversation once you actually match.

So is the expectation for me to start the ball rolling again with conversation even though I was the one who initiated with the question that they liked? Or should I expect these lovely gals to respond because the ball is now in their court?

Would hate to lose out or get unmatched because I waited too long… but also don’t want to be pushy or needy because I basically already started the conversation.

Not sure what the rules or etiquette is.

10mm, Optic cut, and rail?

I’ve been interested in adding a 1911 to the collection for some time.

However I had trouble justifying the purchase since I already have many defensive handguns and already have a .45

What I don’t have yet is a 10mm woods and hunting gun that I could use for whitetail and bear defense, and that got me thinking that I could scratch my 1911 itch without having it be just a fun range queen.

The idea of a lighter 1911 trigger for handgun hunting is particularly appealing.

So my question is twofold:

How does the 10mm cartridge fare in the 1911 platform?

And what models of 1911 do you know of that fulfill all the criteria listed in the post title?

Ideally I would like both an optic cut and rail for a light in the event I have to protect myself from a predator attack at night.

Aquaterra or Hot Springs

My local Costco has two sales going on:

They have the Aquaterra Huntley model tub discounted by $2k for a price of $5,000

and they have an upcoming sales event where a local dealer is selling Hot Springs models for what I assume will be reduced prices.

If I wait for the Hot Springs event, the sale on the Aquaterra will expire. I’m not sure what a Hot Springs model starts at either.

thoughts?

I know the dealer will support the Hot Springs and set it up, but I’m guessing it’s a lot more $$$.

I also understand that they are manufactured by the same company, which begs the question just how much better build quality is the Hot Spring?

I am in a colder climate in Wisconsin if that’s a big factor.

thanks for feedback and help!

Easy to repair but high quality brands?

I’m a pipefitter by trade, so I’m not intimidated at all by replacing pumps or hoses…

was looking into getting a higher end hot tub, but want one that I can actually do maintenance on without needing a ton of proprietary parts.

yes, I know that local dealers are there to make fixes, but I also know planned obsolescence is a thing with certain brands and they may cease carrying the old model parts entirely.

previously, I had looked into getting a hot spring through costco, but I hear they use lots of proprietary parts. Good warranty and quality though I understand?

Thanks for the help and feedback!

Current market scope recommendation for B-14?

Just pulled the trigger on the “Cheeto special” Bergara B-14 HMR chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor in large part thanks to this subreddit and the FAQ

This will be my first bolt gun and long range gun in my collection.

I’ve seen some scope recommendations here while perusing through the threads, but I know the market can quickly change, scopes can go for increased prices, or be discontinued…

So I’m asking people more knowledgeable than myself here, what are your personal recommendations given the *current offerings* on the market if you were to add a scope to a Bergara B-14 in 6.5 creed today?

I’m looking to hunt from a blind or stand potentially with the rifle as well.

Thanks for your help.

Title says it all, how deep do I need to go at minimum to ensure koi survive a harsh Wisconsin winter?

I browsed some older posts that advocate digging as deep as you can afford, but I‘d like to know where the survival line is at bare minimum, then choose to go deeper than that.

I have experience keeping saltwater fish in reef aquariums, but this will be my first pond.

Thanks in advance for the help!
