Thronewake - a persistent strategy browser game, fresh server starting May 23

Hey everyone,

My name is Mike, I’m a software developer from the Netherlands, and I’ve been building a persistent browser-based strategy game called Thronewake.

A fresh new server opens on 23 May, and registration is already open.

Thronewake is focused on long-term village growth, alliances, world-map strategy, attacks, defenses, scouting, trading, rankings, reports, and a server-wide endgame. It is designed as a mobile-first browser game, so there is no download required and it works comfortably on both desktop and phone. It's all realtime as well!

You start with a small village, grow your economy, train troops, join or create an alliance, expand across the map, and compete for control of the world. The game has three playable tribes: Embermark Dominion, Stormfang Clans and Verdant Wardens.

There is also an NPC tribe called the Ancients, who control special locations and play an important role in the endgame.

Some of the main systems currently in the game:

  • Villages and resource production
  • Buildings and upgrades
  • Troop training
  • Attacks, raids, scouting, and reinforcements
  • Alliances
  • Global chat, direct messages, and alliance channels
  • Reports
  • Rankings
  • Trading
  • Map exploration
  • Endgame objectives
  • A combat simulator

One thing I care about a lot is keeping the game fair. There is currently no monetization at all, and if I do add it later, the plan is cosmetics only. No pay-to-win, no paid speedups, and no ads.

The game has already gone through earlier worlds with friends and early players, and the core game is now in a solid place. New features are still being added, but the game is fully playable and ready for a larger world.

If you enjoy persistent browser games with alliances, strategy, planning, and long-term progression, I’d love to see you in the new server.

My Travian-inspired game Thronewake - new 3X server on 23 May!

Hey everyone,

My name is Mike and a few weeks ago I posted here about Thronewake, the Travian-inspired browser game I’ve been building. Quite a few people from this subreddit gave it a try, which was genuinely really helpful! Both for finding bugs and for getting feedback from people who actually know this kind of game.

Since then, the second public server has been running, I’ve pushed a lot of improvements, and I’m now opening a fresh new 3X server on 23 May. You can reserve your spot now!

For anyone who missed the first post: Thronewake is a (mobile-first) browser strategy game inspired by Travian, with villages, resources, alliances, chat, reports, rankings, an endgame, and a combat system that will feel very familiar. It has three playable tribes: Embermark Dominion, Stormfang Clans, and Verdant Wardens - plus the NPC Ancients.

A few things are intentionally different: there’s no hero system, no pay-to-win, and players can set up to 6 hours of safe time per day during which they cannot attack or be attacked. I still like the long-term strategy of these games, I just don’t want them to reward completely unhealthy schedules.

If you wanted to try it before but didn’t feel like joining a world that had already started, this is probably the best moment to jump in. You can already register and reserve a spot for the new server here:
