Advice On Chalkboard Menus

Attached picture is just some work I’ve done in the past. Posca on chalkboard

I finally landed my first job: to make a menu board! Me and the Cafe owner are both new to this kind of stuff so I’m going to try to figure out how to make their vision come together.

Their whole theme is vintage Baroque/ Rocco. So they wanted the frame of their chalkboard to be of that gold frame you’d imagine. I figured maybe I could find a picture frame/mirror to work off of and use some wood+ chalkboard paint on the inside? Any ideas would be appreciated. This community has been so helpful thanks for taking the time to read this!!

Shelf color

Once again consulting this community because I can’t decide on a color 🫣 Originally wanted to sand and restore it to the natural pine underneath the paint, but ultimately decided it might be too much work. Anyways, here’s some colors I grabbed. Leaning more towards a green *in progress kitchen don’t mind the clutter*

In desperate need of advice!

I’ve made a post here before but now I have some furniture moved in from my previous apartment! As you could see, there’s not much cohesion. Everything is thrifted/handed down because I didn’t really have the money to cater towards a specific aesthetic.

I’m thinking I’d like to get a sectional or possibly a couch and chair situation (big chair would replace the couch against the window) but the layout is hard to work with imo. I also had this huge coffee table because it was where I would eat in my apartment, but I’m thinking a smaller maybe round one would be better.

I have a mix of different woods in my place, and I just got this rug. I’m not sure if I should stick to one wood color tone of what.

Any advice is appreciated!! Everything just got in so it’s not a permanent setup so things will move around

Quick edit; I have some decor pieces (some picture frames) and HANGING PLANTS I just don’t know where they would look good at! But I have hooks ready to go in the wall /ceiling.

Large window awkward layout

so I’m renting this place and it’s going to be by first non apartment! it’s cute and charming but the layout of the living area is weird. Specifically the area going into the kitchen. The room seen off to the left side is ‘a second living room’, so it’s just a non closed off room with the railing separating it. I really love the idea of putting a low table for floor sitting (a chuabudai) but as you can see, there’s not much clearance for the entry way into the kitchen. A picture from a few years back (with the green walls) show that they just had seating there, but even the chairs seemed to stick out a little bit. Any ideas or suggestions? thank you queens

edit: jic anyone suggests it as an eating area there’s already one in the kitchen I plan to use!

My cat won’t eat wet food anymore

My(24f, usa)male cat(Gwyn), neutered, 3y/o, 13lbs, has slowly stopped eating his wet food.

I found Gwyn outside January of 2024, and have been feeding him the same food since then. He has always been a slow eater in comparison to his brother, especially with wet food. I’ve always had to separate him and his brother during dinner time because of this- they don’t get territorial or aggressive but if Frodo (his brother) finished first and would start to walk to the vicinity Gwyn was in, he would simply step away and just give up his food to Frodo. We started putting him in a separate room to eat after we noticed that and he would take a while to eat but finished his bowl.

In one of the cans, there’s a mix of peas, carrots and pumpkin with chicken that he started to dislike. He would push all the peas aside and it made him eat even slower, but he would still eat everything except the peas. That’s when we started to get the seafood variety to mix it up. It’s been about 2 years since all of this, but now he barely eats wet food at all. All of these cans are in broth/gravy, plus we add extra water so he drinks it all up and takes a few bites of the meat but then doesn’t want it anymore. He begs for kibble instead. Sometimes we try to mix it with kibble but he doesn’t like that either.

I’ve looked at other threads of people having a similar issue, and the most common advice was to switch up brands / textures / flavors. So I started with getting the same brand wet food but as pate, then I tried tiki cat pate and their normal after dark series (he actually ate this when we first got him and before we switched to weurva) and he’s just turning his nose up to it all. Just drinks broth then leaves it.

Here is his food routine :
Wellness Complete Health Natural Grain Free Chicken & Chicken Meal Recipe kibble; 1/4th cup 4 times from 6am to 6pm,

Weurva Paw Lickin pals, 5.5 oz can split between him and his brother. With water and salmon oil added. Served before we go to bed

Do I just keep trying different brands? My boyfriend thinks we should just stop giving him wet food for a bit, but I want to keep him hydrated. Also he was at the vet for a checkup less than a month ago and got a full exam, blood and all and is completely healthy. I didn’t bring it up to the vet because only recently had he stopped wanting it completely

Hi everyone! This is my first post here after being a lurker for a while.

I am 24, and have been an artist my whole life. Artist as in illustrator mostly; until 2022 when I got my job at Trader Joe’s.

I’ve worked as a sign artist at Trader Joe’s and have really come to love the idea of perusing it on my own. If anyone knows anything about the sign team at joes, it is pretty different in terms of technique, materials and execution. We mostly work with posca paint markers on blackboards.

Anyways, I guess my question to the community would be how did you get into being a sign artist, and turning it into a career and/or side job? What is some advice you would give to anyone else who’s interested in perusing this path?
