The Captiva... How crap are they actually, so many are still on the road today

Anecdotal of course, not sure where to get the statistics.

I remember watching videos on how crap they are, how unreliable they are and that you should stay away from them. But I noticed that there are so many of them on our roads. More than Commodores. More than some euro brands like Peugeot's or citroens.

Just makes me wonder how crap they actually are, if we were fed a lie about them so that we wouldn't buy them...

(And going into conspiracy land - us not buying these rebadged Holdens lead to GM being able to dump the Holden brand faster)

edit: I'm not buying one FYI, stop telling me to buy it lol. just a discussion on whether its reputation is truly deserved when we still see many of these.

Getting back into the IT industry for 4 years, what to learn?

Basically I had 4 year hiatis after working as a mid level web developer. I was doing frontend work using only React. Now I'm back in the scene, never have kept up with the scene (never a passion, just a means to an end), and finding that I am out of date.

How do I get myself back in shape after 4 year hiatus in web development? What have I missed out on? etc.

Moving from IT tech industry to school teaching, has anyone done this?

hi guys, i'm a burned out to the crisp software developer who don't see a future in IT as a web developer anymore. People around me tell me that I have so much empathy and that I'd be a good teacher.

I've been made redundant, yet again, and REALLY loathe the process of applying for jobs, interviewing 5 times for a salary that barely has increased, if at all, for the past few years... Also never had a 'passion' for the IT field either - it was just a way to make money, I don't care about technology enough to learn about new IT concepts / certifications / projects in my spare time... and I've made enough money IMO...

...and wonder if this is the time to change careers to something more stable and I daresay more comfortable.

  1. * Has anyone moved from being a software engineer / web developer to becoming a primary (or secondary) school teacher?
  2. * How's the change?
  3. * What made you want to change?
  4. * What were the biggest surprises? Any regrets?
