I’ve been meaning to volunteer at an animal shelter in my city for a while now so I can have more to put on my résumé. I was talking to my sister about it and she brought up the possibility that I might bring fleas and similar kinds of parasitic insects home, possibly infecting my household with them and even worse, potentially giving my cat diseases transmittable by blood from other cats like FIV.

I guess what I’m looking for is in the title. How do I keep fleas off of me? Is there actually any way to prevent this all together? Thanx.

I puked on my floor just now and it was straight bile. I put a pillowcase over it because it was the closest thing I had by. My cat (2 year old domestic shorthair female) came over and ran on top of the pillowcase briefly before seemibg to attempt to ingest something, if that makes sense? I didn’t see her lick her paws but I wasn’t paying super close attention cause I didn’t think she would pick any up, but I saw her doing the things cat do where they kind of jerk their head around slightly and lick their lips to eat something. No idea what else she would’ve eaten except maybe for like one of my hairs or something. In the case of it being my stomach bile though, is this something I should be worried about?
