Thoughts on GTP’s having pre-requisites in multi-class?

I race IMSA GT3 and hover around the low to mid 2k splits, but I’ve noticed a lot of times, the GTP drivers are always the lowest rated drivers in the lobby.

All of the 2k+ iratings are in GT3, while GTP is 1.3-1.6k with most of the incidents. You’d think it would be the other way around with GTP’s being much faster and difficult to drive.

This results in lower rated drivers ruining others races with unsafe/unnecessary passes through traffic, or even entitlement because they don’t realize the GT3’s just have to hold their line, but not move and let them through.

I fortunately haven’t had any direct race ending collisions with GTP’s but have seen it happen to others in my races, and realize the danger some of these drivers pose.

Do you think there should be pre-requisites for driving prototypes in IMSA? If so, what should they be?

Any Logitech RS50 Users Having Issues on iRacing with their Rotary Knobs?

I currently use the logitech rs50 wheel, which has two rotary knobs. I have one of knob set to cycle between my different blackboxes, and lately idk if a new issue has come up, or I'm just now noticing it, but the knobs aren't fully responsive at all times.

When racing and wanting to use the knob, it's like it's asleep and I have to give it a random number of clicks before it wakes up, and finally changes my blackbox inconsistently; with some clicks registering, and some not.

However, when using the knobs to navigate wheel base settings, the knobs work and respond perfectly fine, so it could possibly be an iracing issue? Any other rs50 users have this issue, and know if there is a solution for this?

Thanks!

When You Finally Catch Them on the Final Lap

Always a rewarding feeling after being on the hunt for lap after lap. Finished this race in P16 as the #22 car from a P39 start (packet loss in both qualifying laps unfortunately) in a 2032 SOF split. Felt good despite starting from the back!

How to launch out of the pits?

Hey guys, one thing I’ve never learned how to do is getting a good launch out of my pitstops. I get to my booth, they refuel, the guy lifts the sign, and then I get onto the throttle for what feels like the slowest acceleration period ever.

Just now in my imsa race, i tried those burnout pit exits I always see. I went into the pits while everyone was fighting to save time. I switched to neutral and the fuel blackbox once I get to my stall. Once I saw the fueling was almost done, I hold down the throttle, and then switched to 1st once the sign was lifted.

Ended up getting a penalty for speeding in the pitlane after my burnout launch, despite having my limiter on. Ruined my own race lol. How do you guys get those perfect pitstop launches that seem to save just a tiny fraction of time, without getting a penalty?

A New Nordschleife GT3 Personal Best: 6:38.964

I find this track super fun and challenging all at once after forcing myself to learn it. In the previous GT3 week last season, the best I could pull was a 6:42 and that was what felt like during absolute peak performance.

For the previous week, I've been working on "going slower to go faster". This specifically focused on lifting and coasting with lighter braking, and not excessively dragging out my trail braking during each corner (have a bad tendency to trail brake too long even if I'm already rotated and at the apex).

Anyways, I trusted faster drivers' advice, and to my surprise, what seems counterintuitive really does make you go quicker. Anyways, just wanted to share my new personal best lap time with some fellow sim racers. Not the fastest time out there, but still happy with the progress.

Finally hit my goal and can say I am a somewhat competent racer :)

Got iracing in January and finally hit my goal of 2k, which I saw as the starting point of a "decent" sim racer. Been a GT3 main once I hit B license and have frequenting the fixed series, IMSA, and lately, the nordschleife whenever it's a GT3 week.

Anyways, ready to hit a bad string of races starting tomorrow that will bring me back down to 1700, but who cares. I feel like Lando Norris after getting the championship now \w/.
