Wobble in throttle tube

Hey yall, attached a video, will add pics in a comment.

Took a small dump on the bike last week. Afterwards I noticed some lateral play in the tube. Acceleration and deceleration seem fine still. The whole brake lever assembly got turned down after dropping it. I was able to bring back up to a good orientation and tighten back down.

It looked to be that the piece at the end of the bar (ball end? Not sure what that is called) is a bit bent. There’s a groove in the throttle grip, I thought maybe that was supposed to be tucked into the cable assembly. Took that apart and doesn’t seem like there’s room for it.

It seems my handlebar end piece needs to be addressed OR maybe the whole throttle cable assembly should move right on the bar to limit the play?

That or do I just run it and worry about it next year. Thanks for the input, everyone!

Chopped up DR650? (IG:suzukidr650colombia)

Saw these on IG. Not my content. Credit to @suzukidr650colombia

I know nothing about them, don’t even know what to call em, but they made me go 😬 😎 🧐

Any other 650 mods and rebuilds you can share?

Boss VE-20.. how weird can we get?

Hey hello howdy

I make noise/experimental/heavy/hypnotic music using electronic gear. I’m integrating vocals and want heavy FX on them. I’ve been trying to use inserts/aux sends to guitar pedals and not quite getting the clarity or heavy effects I want. Most vocal FX units seem to be geared toward cleaning up vocals and adding nice harmonies. Not really what I’m lookin for.

Looking for heavy delay and chorusing fx with some pitch shifting and spacey verb. Think Quadraverb maybe? Curious if the Boss VE-20 or 22 could give me what I’m looking for (without using a rack unit geared more toward instruments). Flipping through the manual a bit it seems like I can stack FX which is great, but there aren’t really demos showcasing a more overbearing use case. Don’t really need the phrase looping capabilities.

If possible I would like to sound like a robot witch that has been cloistered in a cave for a while and finally has a new victim in her midst.

Any experience getting weird in your hypno-chamber with these? Any other suggestions?

Motorcycle with bad title… I just wanna ride clean!

Just got a motorcycle!

When the guy went to sign over the title he realized it’s actually a broken chain of ownership. It was a bunch of friend of a friend deals, after the initial sale, and it finally wound up with him. So there is a single title transfer on it.

The guy seemed very earnest and not a thief, I think the bike just got passed around a few years.

I have a bill of sale and insurance, and this what is now a dirty title. I want to register it today, at the small town office in my area.

Anyone been through this before? I don’t want to ride dirty and the season is almost over. Thx!

(Btw it’s a DR650 and I’m so pumped to whip it)

Steal or Pass- what to ask?

Been trying to decide if I say YOLO and pick up a used DR to try and get some miles in before winter (Northeast US, for reference). Never owned a motorcycle before. Asking $2500 OBO

Listing here:

“1999 Suzuki DR 650se . This is a single cylinder 650 oil cooled 4 stroke dual sport that Suzuki produced for decades with almost no changes besides colors and graphics so parts are usually easily available. New battery, air filter, front tire ,tube, starter torque limiter gear, petcock also carburetor was cleaned and rebuilt. Runs good , the carburetor may need more fine tuning though depending on your riding style. Does have some dents and scratches but considering it's 27 years old and was used on and off road it still looks pretty good. $2500 obo”

What would you look for if going to check out this bike? I see a touch of rust on the guard near the front, besides that from the pics it don’t look bad for ‘99 but I don’t know what I’m lookin for. 10k miles. says that it has a starter torque limiter.

I asked what was done to the carb (I don’t know jack). I’d want to swap the tires for country roads but i don’t hate it for a first bike.

Thanks yall, happy Saturday

Newbie looking at a deal

Hey all, recently got bit by the motorcycle bug. For context: A couple friends are picking up Honda CBs, but I’m scoping out the DRs. Don’t wanna run too fast, don’t wanna mess around on the freeway, and always thought cruising on some 45mph highways to puttering up a fire road or easy track to camp sounds like a blast. I’m 37 and 6’1”, 165 lbs.

Saw this one posted for sale. Is this deal too sweet? Has a lot of mods and aftermarket stuff, including a new seat. Seems like a lot of decent upgrades for not a substantial amount more $$$ than others I’m seeing, and with lower miles. Something wrong with it or is it a deal? Interested to hear your thoughts.

They’re asking $4,400. Here’s a pic and the listing text.

“2012 Suzuki DR650

Perfect combination of on and off road. Owned since 2019. Now has ~7k miles. Had plans of a cross country off road trip which never happened, so the bikes been used for 3 trips a year on the sunrise trail with my son, but he’s riding faster and more aggressive so I’m switching back to 4 wheels.. Very comfortable. All the mods needed based off Berserks forum write up. Tuned carburetor, Suzuki gsx exhaust (oem is in a box), aftermarket front fender and rear rack, ims 4.9? Gas tank, seat concept seat, a pile of oil filters, bike is great. Cruises down the road at 60+, or handles the rocks and bumps at 40 while feeling glued to the road. 40+mpg. Quickest feeling DR around. Bike has newer tires with tubes installed. No trades. Cash only. $4400”

Playing expressively w DN2

Hey all. Looking for experiences from DN2 users on how you run through your patterns or play expressively with your DN2.

I’m thinking in terms of macros as I’ve been spending time with the A4 lately. Leveraging the performance macros is really pretty incredible. Especially because one knob can affect multiple tracks at once. I’m looking at getting into a DN2 to bring FM into the game. I’m trying to not think in terms of what I can’t do, but in different ways to use what is there.

I know that I can set up mod wheel to parameters from an individual track.

I’ve also been considering some type of midi controller so I can map CCs, but as I understand it, most controllers will send only on one channel at a time. I think DN2 would be particularly fun using a midi keyboard.

Any experience or advice on how you give your patterns life and expression as you play through appreciated!! Reload commands? Midi controllers? Button mashing?

Thx yall 🙇‍♀️

Jamming and midi fx in Bitwig

Hey all. I come from hardware world, though still kind of a newbie. I’d consider myself somewhere intermediate with sound design and sequencing. I’ve got a handle on basics, but am still very much in an exploratory phase. I’ve become pretty interested in playing around itb, partially for deeper experimentation and learning sound design, more interesting sequencing, and for space considerations to try many types of VSTs without having to fill up a studio with hardware while learning.

I’m curious about Bitwig because the Grid seems something easier to wrap my head around than MAX or Reaktor (but I am very curious about Reaktor!!). I’m particularly interested in sequencing that’s a little deeper than where I’m getting with hardware. I think what I’m talking about is called MIDI Effects, or maybe generative controlled sequences or even just events. As an example: making it so a snare hit isn’t a static roll every time it comes around. But maybe one time the space between the hits is a little different, or it fades in differently, or the sends to reverb are changing. I’ve heard that people like Bitwig or Reaktor for sound design, and go to MAX for more interesting control possibilities. Thoughts?

Separately but related: I’m also trying to wrap my head around how people jam to recordings on Bitwig. Are you using mouse control and midi faders? Are you launching sequences/scenes? A lot of tutorials I see are showing people composing their scenes, where as I’m more interested in zoning in and usually working with developing and playing with sounds and recording those, as opposed to “songs”. I’ve never used song mode on an Elektron.

Anyway, curious to hear any advice and experiences for the Bitwig-curious in the realm of these topics!

Vocal compressor + fx

Hey sound people, looking for a gear recommendation.

I’ve been borrowing a 1989 Quadraverb from a friend, so far using it for vocals. I use heavy FX on vocals, and I’m getting somewhere I really like with it.

I havnt tried running it as with aux send of my full/parts of my mix besides vocals yet, but probably will experiment with that for some big washes.

My vocals seem to need some compression, or maybe it’s my mic (I am a NOOB and have never been good at making things sound good). As soon as I start singing louder it jumps HARD into the red on the Quadraverb meter. I’ve noticed this on my computer interface as well. It isn’t a smooth stepping at all, and maybe this has to do with my beat-to-shit Shure SM58.

I’m considering if I should get a compressor for vocals. Maybe as a full insert on my vocals.

I’m looking for advice on:

-Any modern units that I can really slam my vocals with layered fx. Heavy use of all 4 Quadraverb FX are working well. Or should I just get one for myself.

-Are there any decent units where I could get an all-in-one vocal compressor that also carry some heavy fx possibilities. Being able to compress vocals as well as route parts of my mix thru Aux sends would be a bonus, but assuming that somethin like this doesn’t exist.

-If an all-in-one isn’t a thing, what type of simple vocal compressor would you recommend? I don’t need a Cadillac. This will be mostly for small venues where I’m trying to just send a direct stereo line to a house system. Not anticipating much help from a live sound engineer.

I’m not looking for cutting edge stuff, don’t need app control. I’m dumb. For reference I make heavy, industrial-leaning hypnotic music w/ electronic gear. Vocals with a wide dynamic range and very wet fx.

Thanks in advance!
