Really high blood pressure.

Dad is on hospice x 4 weeks. He has chronic kidney disease that‘s end stage. He has continued on BP meds but no other meds. As his kidneys are shutting down his BP is pretty much super high now even with his current meds- 170/103 regularly. My fear is that he will have a stroke or something before he passes because of this pressure. What can I do?

Israeli Couscous- pairing ideas.

Hello I am new to cooking. So essentially I’m following recipes exactly and not really doing my own thing just yet. I just made a cup of Israeli couscous (with chicken broth instead of water). What can I pair it with besides chicken?

I was thinking canned black beans and vegetables but im not sure the best way to make vegetables. I have microwave mixed veggies, microwave broccoli, whole peppers, purple onion and corn.

Can I just roast everything by putting it on a flat sheet? After that- can I serve everything warm or is that unappealing? Please give me very clear instructions :) Thank you.

For the people that start work at 7/7:30 am..

Are you waking the patients up? Are they ok to see you this early? I’m a Cota at the Snf and I’ve only tried an early schedule a few times because the patients would be sleeping and a few would tell me to come back after breakfast (9am).

We have 2 physical therapists that start at 6am. I didn’t ask them for tips but it seems really hard to get people early.

How do you make it work?

Books for 6 year old.

Im Roman Catholic but only recently started coming back to learning about my faith. I watch my 6 year old nephew two nights a week and I’d like to teach him a little about the faith - the Bible and /or the catechism. Obviously I will ask his parents (they are not together) before teaching him anything. He does go to church sometimes with mom but he splits weekends. In your experience what are the best books to teach a child? I am listening to the Bible in a year and catechism in a year. But I have so many knowledge gaps myself.

I ordered the Baltimore catechism and the Catholic children’s bible:

Aka- sit to stands.

I‘m a Cota- I have a SNF patient with a R above knee amputation (over a year- no prosthesis. I’m not sure why but I think she nixed the idea of getting one). she wants to work on toilet transfers. she can sit to stand with Mod/Max A. However, Im not sure where exactly she should put her hands. She currently likes to push up from the wheelchair with both hands but then struggles to get R hand onto the walker.

My thought process is to push up from the wheelchair using the L side and keep the R side on the walker to begin with. Is this how you typically train people?

Also, going to a full stand is more taxing for her. Is it ok to train her to do a swing pivot on the ball of her foot?

Im a SNF Cota and Im taking continuing education to try to improve my knowledge base. But I feel like every day there is something new to learn and I give up very easily. I’m forcing myself to learn. I don’t even remember the basics from school and I was pretty much a ‘everybody do dumbbell curls’ type therapist for the longest time.

Recently I was thinking, is learning OT similar to learning a language? Because I know I absolutely would never be able to force myself to learn (I don’t have the willpower to stick with it). In terms of continuing educatio- I mainly watch videos on medbridge or google things . But am I going about it the wrong way?
