What website signals do you check when doing a Local SEO audit?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a small Local SEO checker and thought I’d get some feedback from people who work with local businesses.

One thing I’ve noticed is that when someone says “check my local SEO,” there are a lot of different things that can mean. Google Business Profile, Maps rankings, reviews, citations, website signals, etc.

So I built a simple checker that focuses specifically on the website side.

You enter one public webpage and it checks for things like:

* LocalBusiness structured data

* Phone number and address signals

* Google Maps links or embedded maps

It then gives you a transparent local SEO score along with practical next steps based on what it finds.

It’s deliberately pretty simple. It doesn't try to tell you where you'll rank on Google Maps, track your Business Profile performance, or analyse your reviews. It just looks at the local SEO signals present on the webpage.

I’m still working on improving it, so I’d genuinely like to know what other website-level local SEO checks you think should be included.

I made it free to use on the CompaniesBuilder website for anyone who wants to test a page.

If anyone is interested in trying it out, I will share the tool details in the comments section below.

Guest posting opportunity for developers, SEO professionals, marketers & tech writers

Hey everyone,

I’m opening up a free guest contribution opportunity through Companies Builder for people who have genuinely useful knowledge to share about technology, websites, SEO and digital marketing.

We’re looking for writers, developers, designers, SEO professionals, marketers, founders and other practitioners who can share real experience, practical lessons, guides, case studies or useful frameworks.

Some of the topics we currently cover include:

Web development, JavaScript, React, APIs, performance, security, UI/UX, SEO, technical SEO, local SEO, Google Ads, social media, content marketing, CRO, AI tools, automation, WordPress, Shopify, SaaS and B2B growth.

There’s no charge for submitting an article.

We’re mainly interested in original content that actually helps the reader. We don't want generic AI-written articles, keyword-stuffed content or articles that are basically advertisements for a company or service.

Guest posts go through editorial review, and relevant external links can be included where they genuinely make sense for the article. Author bios can also include your professional details and website where appropriate.

So this isn't a “pay us and we'll publish your backlink” type of thing. The focus is on useful content first, with links being reviewed as part of the editorial process.

If you're a good writer or someone with hands-on experience in these areas and have an article idea you've been wanting to publish, you can check the guidelines on the website. I'll share the details in the comments section below.

Would be happy to see what people from this community are working on.

Built an SEO auditor to make website audits easier, what do you think?

Hey guys,

I recently built a free SEO auditor and would genuinely appreciate some feedback from people here who work with websites and SEO.

The idea came from noticing that a lot of SEO audit tools give you a long list of issues, but it can be difficult to understand what actually needs to be fixed first.

So I built a simple tool where you enter a website URL and it checks things like page performance, Core Web Vitals, accessibility, technical best practices, and SEO.

One thing I specifically wanted to improve was the way the results are presented. Instead of only showing scores and technical warnings, it tries to explain the issues in simpler terms and give you an idea of what you should work on.

It doesn't require an account, and there are a few free audits available to test it.

I'm still improving it, so I'd really appreciate honest feedback, especially if you find something inaccurate, confusing, or missing. Even criticism is useful.

If anyone is interested in trying it, I can share the tool.

What do you actually want to see in an SEO audit report?

Hi guys, I've been working on an SEO audit tool recently and I'm trying to figure out what actually makes an audit useful rather than just another page full of scores.

From your experience, what information do you find most useful when auditing a website?
