I just bought the PodMic USB, along with a cheap BM88 from F*fine (lol) to hold it.

I'm a complete newbie to microphones, so I was wondering how I should have it positioned. Obviously for a dynamic microphone of this kind, you want it 2-4 inches away from your mouth.

I've seen people use their dynamics straight on, at a 45 to the left or right, or more so from the bottom. I'm using it for gaming.

I am looking to buy a new mic, and I very much prioritise sound quality. My budget is $300 AUD. I'm looking for something highly directional that will minimise keyboard and computer fan sound, and pick up as much of my voice as possible.

This will be used for some gaming and maybe some content creation. I'm not planning to podcast.

I'm not interested in buying an audio interface, since that is out of budget; so any USB recommendations would be much appreciated.

I've found the Audio-Technica AT2040USB. Is this my best pick?
