Can I get admission to B.Tech Civil if I passed Class 12 overall but failed Chemistry?

Hi everyone,

I'm in a bit of a confusing situation and would appreciate any advice.

I appeared for CBSE Class 12 (2026) with 6 subjects:

English – Pass

Physics – Pass

Chemistry – RT (Theory)

Mathematics – RT (Theory)

Computer Science – Pass

CBSE gave me COMP (Compartment). Because I had 6 subjects, my school said I could appear for the supplementary exam in only one subject, so I chose Mathematics. This means I won't be able to clear Chemistry until the next CBSE attempt.

My question is:

Has anyone been admitted to B.Tech Civil (or any B.Tech branch) after passing Class 12 overall but still having an uncleared Chemistry compartment?

Did any private universities like Sharda allow provision admission until Chemistry was cleared?

Has anyone successfully gotten an exception or extension?

I'm not asking about JEE eligibility—only private university B.Tech admission.

If you've experienced something similar or know someone who has, I'd really appreciate your advice.

Thanks!

Need UG program Advice: Civil Engineering or Something Better for the Future in Sikkim?

So basically hey everyone, I need some advice regarding choosing my UG degree. I had Pcm cs (Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Computer Science) in school and I'm confused about what field would be best for the future, especially considering opportunities in Sikkim.

I’m trying to choose something that will remain useful and have good demand in the coming years. I’ve been thinking about Civil Engineering because of infrastructure and development-related work, but I’m not sure about its future scope, salary growth, or opportunities in and around Sikkim.

I’m also open to other options — Computer Engineering, CSE, AI/Data-related fields, Mechanical, or anything else that could be practical and future-proof.

People from Sikkim or anyone familiar with job trends there ,what degrees do you think will be valuable in the next 5–10 years? Also, what are your views on Civil Engineering as a career path?

Any advice would help😭.
