Halls

I'm not going back to school in year 13, and I'm predicted to have enough points to get into BCom. From what I can tell, I won't get a conditional offer like other unis. I just have to wait till I get my exam results (January) then they will review my application. Do you think its likely I will get in, assuming I meet all entry requirements.

Also, how would that work with halls. I've applied for Waiparuru. Since I'm not going for any scholarships I think they review applications in October. I'm assuming they won't offer me a place since I don't have an offer to study. Hypothetically, if they accept me after I get my exam results, would there still be any accomodation left?

Uni at 16

Hi there,

I'm currently in year 12 and can gain uni entrance at the end of the year. I hate school and absolutely refuse to stay for year 13. However, if I go to uni next year I will be 16 when I start, and won't be 17 till April. I was planning to move into halls till I realised you had to be 18, so I will be commuting about 45 minutes to uni. I don't have a good group of school friends, and I don't know anyone else who would be starting at the same time as me. But the way I see it is that even if I start at the typical time for someone my year level (2028), I would still only be 17 for the first monthish so would miss out on most of the o-week stuff since I can't legally drink, and I don't know if I would be able to go into halls because of my age anyways.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? All advice is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Because I would be commuting I wouldn't be out every weekend drinking anyway. Is it difficult to make friends without going out at night?

Bachelor of Commerce

Hi everyone. Is a marketing major worth it? I'm interested in more the managing of products (product, price, place, promotion, product porfolio analysis, boston matrix model, etc.), rather than digital marketing. From my research, it looks mainly digital oriented and building a portfolio

Can any marketing majors briefly explain what you learn, as I don't want to spend 3 years doing something I don't like. Or are there any suggestions on alternative majors/minors I should take.

Also, are there even any jobs in marketing? Its such a common and 'easy' degree, so is it even worthwhile to study it?
