Need some guidance for women's Valkyrie
I'm not new to stringing traditional. However, I've not tried a women's stick. My young niece had a beginner's stick and after picking it up, I could see that it will hinder development and enjoyment.
So I went and bought an STX Aria and I had already bought the Valkyrie mesh that I had planned to putting in the $50 stick. It seemed like a waste. I started off on the left by loosely doing cross-lace similar (less the twist over itself) to how you would do a Rock-it-Pocket.
Before I get too far into it, I guess I should ask if there is a reason that a similar approach usually isn't taken (the standard traditional cross-lace like on the left). The right side, I did the weird sidewall for the sake of this example.
Is there a reason that I've only seen these with the odd sidewall (right)? I haven't messed around with women's sticks enough to know if the traditional approach on the left is going to make the pocket odd or throw funny. I'd of course redo the left, tighten it up and twist them over like a Rock-it-Pocket style. Should I stick with the weird sidewall like on the right?
Can anyone suggest a source for thinner cross-lace? I think the standard stuff looks silly with the thinner chord used by the Valkyrie portion.
Thanks
