My husband has now had multiple incidents of abuse toward our children. CPS was involved. I am seeking a divorce, but he doesn’t want one. He says he’s better and can be safe, but I disagree.

I’m looking for experiences from others who may have been in a similar situation. Ideally I want full custody, with him having supervised visitation. If this plays out, I’m taking on 100% of childcare (2 young children) and all of the associated labor.

I’d like an equitable financial arrangement that acknowledges this! I didn’t ask to be in this situation, but im doing what I need to do to protect my kids.

We make about equal money, and have kept finances largely separate. Only married 5 years.

Anyone have experience to share about how things played out?

I’m newly separated, trying to figure out where to live with my kids in Rva or surrounding area.

As a single parent, there is just one of me to take care of the house and keep an eye on the kids. Also my buying power is now lower.

I want my kids to be in a good school district, and have some freedom to roam without constant adult supervision. They are young now (not yet in school), so for now I just need decent outdoor space. But I’m also looking ahead and want them to run around and hang w other kids as they grow up. Being surrounded by other families is important.

Which areas would you consider? Thoughts on condos or renting? I’d love to not be 100% car-dependent. My budget is $500k (maybe $550k).
