Any Texas licensed Instructors in NY?

I’d like to obtain my Texas nonresident CCW. I can complete the classroom portion online, but I still need to qualify at the range with a Texas-licensed instructor. If you know of a Texas instructor who is based in New York, or one who plans to travel to New York and can conduct the qualification in NY, please let me know. I’m hoping to avoid traveling to Texas for the permit and would prefer to already have it before I visit.
Thanks!

Two Agendas. Two Very Different Visions for America.

DSA agenda focuses on abolishing, defunding, prosecuting, and expanding government control.

The MAGA agenda focuses on securing the border, creating American jobs, lowering taxes, protecting free speech and parents’ rights, achieving energy independence, supporting safe communities, maintaining a strong military, and pursuing peace through strength.

One vision is centered on tearing down America’s institutions. The other is focused on strengthening our country and delivering prosperity, security, and freedom.

Which agenda better represents the future you want for America?

NYC Special Carry Permit Timeline After References Were Contacted and Documents Verified

My wife applied for her New York City Special Carry Permit in March 2025 and had her interview in June 2025. Yes, 16 months ago! Since then, she has sent several follow-up emails but received little to no response.
Over the past few days, all of her references were contacted. She also received a boiler plate email stating that her submitted documents had been successfully verified as supporting documentation required to complete her application.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? Once your references were contacted and you received a document verification email, how long did it take before your permit was approved or you received a final decision?
What makes the delay even more confusing is that her application should be very straightforward. She has never been arrested, never had a ticket and does not have any issues in her background that should complicate the process.
When I applied for my NYC Special Carry Permit, the entire process took approximately six months, and none of my references were contacted.
I understand that every application is different, but I am curious to hear about other people’s recent timelines and experiences. Thank you.

Do not ignore Mamdani’s absences!

At some point, this is no longer a scheduling issue. It is a leadership issue. Mayor Mamdani has now chosen not to attend the Israel Day Parade in Manhattan, breaking with a long tradition of New York City mayors showing up publicly for one of the city’s most important Jewish community events.

This comes after he also missed the installation Mass for Archbishop Ronald Hicks at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, another major civic and religious moment in New York City. That absence also broke with a long-standing mayoral tradition.

A mayor of New York City does not have the luxury of only showing up for the communities or causes that fit his political brand. The job must be larger than ideology. The mayor represents the entire city, including Jewish New Yorkers, Catholic New Yorkers, Muslim New Yorkers, people of every faith, and people of no faith.

My Experience Flying with a Firearm on American Airlines at JFK

I wanted to share my experience flying out of JFK on American Airlines with a declared pistol.  At JFK, American Airlines is in Terminal 8. I went to the American Airlines counter on the third floor. You cannot use the kiosk check-in when traveling with a firearm, so I went directly to the counter and told the agent I had a firearm to declare.

The airline staff called Port Authority Police. I waited about 25 minutes for them to arrive. Once they got there, they checked the case with my pistol to make sure it was not loaded and in a secure approved case, checked my ID, and matched the serial number on my pistol to my NYC and NY permits.  After that, Port Authority Police walked me over to TSA. TSA scanned the case, which took about 30 seconds, and then I was on my way.

When I arrived at my destination, I went to the special baggage pickup area. My bag came out at the same time as everyone else’s luggage. I showed my ID, took my bag, and left.  Overall, it was a pretty streamlined process and exactly what I expected. No issues at all. I also placed a GPS tag in my bag just in case, and I recommend others do the same.
