Advertisers hate this one weird trick

I recently connected my tv to the wifi for the first time to connect it to my self-hosted media server, having previously used it from my games console. I really wasn't expecting the shitshow that followed. After a large software update I could not reject, almost the entire home screen was taken over by giant ads and a bunch of unsolicited streaming apps. What the absolute fuck but after some googling I guess this is normal now? People just accept this? I was and still am so enraged at the audacity that I spent the next couple hours learning how to create a firewall rule on my router to block internet access to my tv whilst maintaining my local streaming connection. Now I am back to a zen home screen, but the audacity of this event has further radicalized me to continue the ad purge across my other devices.

Upgrading whilst using my scavenged parts!

I have an asus vivomini PC which i was previously using for emulating games, but i'd like to upgrade to a dedicated couch gaming PC - there is no room for a GPU on the viviomini motherboard but I am hoping I can repurpose as many of the following into a new build:

intel i5-8400

1x16GB DDR4 SO-DIMM 260 pin RAM

Kingston 256gb M2 SSD

500gb 2.5"HDD

I've had a hard time finding a motherboard that would be compatible with the CPU and SO-DIMM so i'm coming to the experts.

In terms of GPU I don't really have a budget, other than what would make sense considering the existing limited CPU and RAM. I'd prefer a smaller form factor considering this will be for living-room gaming. I'm in Canada.

Infinite boot loop

Picked up a used Asus VivoMini PC with an external 19v power adapter, and it was working perfectly for about 2 days.

Now, it enters an infinite boot loop. After pushing the power button, it boots for about 2 seconds where I can hear the fan spinning up and the power light is on. But then it will make a single beep and the boot stops, before restarting. Of course the seller has ghosted me :)
