I’m Algerian and I’m getting married in the Netherlands in January, inshaAllah, and I’m trying to figure out the practical side of moving there.

I’m currently trying to understand how I should authenticate/legalise my Algerian documents before going. I’ve heard about the Apostille, but I’m honestly still confused about how the process works in Algeria, especially since Algeria only joined the Apostille Convention recently.

For example, for things like my birth certificate, family/civil-status documents, marriage-related documents, university diplomas, etc., do I simply get the French versions where possible and then have them apostilled? Is there a specific authority/online platform I need to use depending on the type of document?

I’d also like to ask about employment. I’m a teacher in Algeria and I have two Master’s degrees Before moving, I’d like to see whether it’s possible to secure a job such as a teacher assistant/education assistant in the Netherlands.

Three of my friends managed to secure teaching-assistant-type jobs in different EU countries before actually moving there, so I’m wondering whether something similar is realistic for the Netherlands.

If anyone here has gone through either the Algerian-document legalisation process or has experience finding education jobs in the Netherlands with an Algerian qualification, I’d really appreciate hearing how you did it.
