So a little context: I'm working on a creative project about an "alien" invasion of Earth during 1988 (so like near-end of the Cold War) where mechs and walkers/crawlers brawl it out against both NATO and Warsaw Pact equipment.

Only, I have rather run into a big glaring issue: I don't know how to put my ideas into words i.e. I can't actually describe said mechs or crawlers. Like, aside from some general concepts (they aren't too massive and they have various designs and doctrines due to the aliens being a coalition) it's just this nebulous thing that isn't exactly conducive to writing.

Like, I obviously have a lot of visual inspiration from a lot of sources but I also don't want to come off as plagarizing.

Any suggestions or ideas on how to begin would be appreciated.

It's extremely hard to find Western literature on how the MA-1 stacks up to other similar rifles. It doesn't really help that most if not all these rifles have seen extreme hard use without proper maintenance. The discussion around Tat 5.56 being significantly hotter than regular 5.56 is also hard to verify objectively (aside from PDF fighters' testomonies)
