My poor burn survivor eating for the first time since I rescued him.

Icarus was badly burned over about 10-12 inches of his belly from the previous owner improperly using a heating pad. He’s currently on antibiotics and silver cream, and keeping him dry on paper towels. He pooped last week, and getting him to eat was the final piece of the puzzle. So happy to see him being a normal snake and healing up.

Anyone else love watching their snakes eat?

She was on a food strike for 4 weeks, tried feeding in a separate container and she’s now eaten the 3rd week in a row. Not ideal, but gotta do what’s best for her.

Rescued (now named Icarus) last Friday, severe month old heating pad burn that wasn’t being treated. Getting him/her into the vet on Saturday.

Treated with a chlorahexadine soak and spray on Blu-Kote which was recommended to me by (not a vet) a professional in the trade. Already looks so much better than before. Keeping Icarus clean, dry, and hydrated until I can get into a vet. Previous owner said Icarus had eaten about 2 weeks ago, and was in the middle of a shed when I got him/her so I think we’re out of the death zone and just need to manage keeping infection away. I am worried about how deep the tissue damage goes though.

After four weeks of refusal turns out she just wanted to eat in a separate tub and live 😒

How do I get my girl to POOP

I got her on April 11th. To start I keep her warm side at 87 degrees, cool side high 70’s to around 80. Humidity stays pretty consistent around 70%. She didn’t eat the first week I got her, ate a rat pup two weeks in a row after that. Since then she has been refusing food and hasn’t pooped since I got her. I think the refusal to eat is due to not having pooped yet. Cloaca appears normal, lower third of her body not dramatically swollen, but she’s definitely retaining poop you can feel a mix of lumps and squish. Seems pretty well hydrated and always has fresh water. I just want her to eat and poop!

Just patiently waiting for the Pothos to grow to fill out the left side of her enclosure

Guess the term eats like a boa is correct, day after we got her and she snatched this fuzzy in 1 second 🥰

Hey everyone, I’m planning on getting my first BCI most likely this weekend and she’s a 1 month old baby. What’s the current consensus on tub setups while they’re so small? I can either put her in a 20gal long I have or build a tub setup as a temp enclosure but I feel like a tub will hold humidity better and feel more secure than a full glass enclosure. My current plan is to size up tubs until she’s big enough for a 4x2x2, and then once she outgrows that move to her forever home which would probably be in the 6-8 foot range.

I’m on my second feeding with my 9 month old since I got her. She was being fed live before but I switched her to F/T. She only takes it when I drop feed her, and won’t strike when I try to tong feed. Is it a matter of her still getting used to me or how can I get her to tong feed? Should I just stick to drop feeding?

Even the guy at the expo I got her from said they can be mean and unpredictable, when I go to reptile stores and talk about her to the employees they think they’re mean. She’s supposed to be this defensive, nervous, spicy baby yet she’s literally the sweetest most calm and curious snake I’ve had the pleasure of handling. My corn snake is more temperamental.
