Needing a water bowl setup for an extremely determined water splashing cat

My cat absolutely LOVES to play with water. He'll also lash out at his water bowl and deliberately get water everywhere if he feels we were at work too long. (He's got a TON of constantly evolving enrichment, don't come at me). He destroyed the carpet where his bowl was at our last apartment, and I'm trying to avoid that in our new home.

We had a system that worked for a year: large stainless steel water bowl inside an enclosure. Recently he's figured out how to beat that up and get water everywhere again.

My only thought is a big water bowl (stainless to help acne) inset that locks into a HEAVY weighted base. But I haven't found anything like this. It needs to be separate pieces: lightweight inset so I don't have back problems, but HEAVY base to stop so much movement (and locked in, or he'll figure out how to remove it).

Note: I genuinely don't mind some splashing if I can just figure out a way to consolidate the mess to something manageable to clean and that doesn't damage our home too much.

Best use of points given the updates & our planned usage

Thinking of Chase saphire preferred for the sign-up bonus and to be a bit more cost effective to travel. I've read lots of articles & am trying to cut through the fluff and focus on what we will actually get value from.

How frequent are transfer bonuses? How do they work? Are there options, or is it like, "Today only, transfer your points to X airline for 20% bonus!"

What is your typical ROI on points utilization for flights and how flexible did you have to be?

Background: Hubby & I try to go on a big (2-3 weeks) trip a year but I'd love to do 2 next year if we can swing it. Otherwise not much travel aside from maybe a couple hotel or airbnb nights to see family.

Flying: Typically cheapest option with luggage, with concessions made to reduce length & layovers. Going to start prioritizing refundability. Dates we are usually flexible but won't be when we do Argentina this fall & may not be when doing UK fall 2027. Doing Delta or AA for Argentina, prolly AA or United for UK. We do have like 2.5k AA Advantage points to use so IDK how to figure out balancing airline points with a travel card points.

Hotels & airbnbs: prioritize cost, highly rated, nearness to sites. Sometimes amenities like microwave/fridge/kitchenette. We don't do luxury.

Appreciate any input. I've never had a credit card like this: just a Chase Prime card I got when I was super young and just needed a backup payment.

Did an emergency intake on kittens during massive TNR. Foster fell through. I can't care for them due to urgent medical needs, but I have no options.

I have been doing TNR on a cat colony for a friend of an acquaintance. They'd been trying to get help for years and now it's 20+ adults and 20+ kittens. I fixed all adults except a nursing mom who will get fixed as soon as kittens are fully weaned. This was all I planned to do, aside from reaching out to a foster orgs I know to help facilitate placement. I didn't have the capacity for me, as I had to take off work to do all that for them, and I'm also in need of 3 urgent medical procedures out of town. I will be very sick this month.

Then I heard about another litter of kittens at this colony and their situation was dangerous. I had a tentative foster lined up that I foolishly put way too much weight into, and I did emergency intake on the kittens. Foster fell through, the kittens have ringworm, and in the past couple days ALL rescues and foster orgs in my area have closed intake.

I am just so angry and so full of grief. I'm angry at myself for breaking my own boundaries, I'm angry no one wants these kittens, I'm angry and hurt that I don't know what the heck I'm going to do and see no way out of this situation that's safe for the kittens and allows me to get the medical care I need. I'm also fearful, because I'm immunocompromised and extremely prone to infections and illnesses.

I have asked everyone I know to reach out to their networks, I have posted to every place I know, and I'm just getting crickets. I have very little hope and am so exhausted. The vet took one look at me and said, "You need to stop helping." I agree, but that point was one big step ago, and now I'm past the point of no return.

I am at my breaking point. The kittens are not happy to be in quarantine and whine constantly, though I try so hard to give them enrichment. Sometimes I break down and yell at them because I just can't stand it any more, and then I feel like I'm a terrible person.

What trail cam to find escaped TNR? (Escaped not in its colony)

My heart is so heavy writing this. Been helping out with a huge cat colony at a trailer park. I've had back-to-back appointments and trapping, and it's been a lot.

Last Wednesday, a volunteer took the trapped cats to her place to overnight them and bring them in for their morning appointments. One of the traps malfunctioned: the cat had backed itself out through the trap plate side, and as soon as this lady opened her car at home, it was gone.

It really wrecked me--never had that happen before.

She's been setting food out for it and has seen it once.

I've been asking her to tell the neighbors, and I am trying to get a trail cam. When researching, all the specs sound like Greek to me, and I accidentally got one where you have to take the SD card out manually.

Suggestions on cams? Is the Muddy Matrix okay? I feel like I'm throwing a shot in the dark, but I just ordered that since time is of the essence.

  • Need to be able to get it quickly
  • Budget of no more than $100 and preferably way less
  • Needs footage clear enough to ensure it's the correct cat
  • Camera needs to not scare him/not noisy
  • Need to be able to monitor remotely on my own cell (not from her house). The volunteer won't do it, she does not have the time.

Any thoughts on cam (and suggestions on recovering this cat) are welcome.

Best budget trail cam to find escaped rescue cat?

I do volunteer cat rescue. One of my co-volunteers I was tag-teaming with had a cat escape last week Wednesday. Right now I'm doing back-to-back rescue work, and so is she. I ordered a Browning Trail Cameras Command Ops Elite 20, 720p from my research, but apparently it's not a camera that lets me view activity from my phone.

I'm exhausted, and the specs are Greek to me. What is a trail camera that is:

  • sensitive and reliable enough to always get footage
  • clear enough to ensure it's really that particular cat
  • allows cellular monitoring (and does not require being near the camera or on the same wifi as the camera)
  • easy to mount anywhere
  • under $100, the cheaper the better. I've already blown our budget for this colony we're helping

Looking for encouragement after awful experiences trying to help TNR

I'm sorry if this isn't what this community is for (and probably all this just goes with the territory). But I'm an emotional train wreck from trying to help a colony.

I have been working so hard to prepare: setting up appointments, gathering traps and supplies.

I get there, and yup, they fed the cats that day. It was a circus but I won't go into it. We finally catch our target amount of cats.

But one is a 4 month old mama. Woman I'm helping (not the owner of the colony) is really against getting her fixed. This place is drowning in cats, some of which have diseases and injuries, and the young moms have been having stillbirths. There's also nowhere for her to go, and the cat colony owner can't afford who they have. I thought this woman agreed that since it's such a high risk pregnancy, she would get her fixed.

I absolutely hate spay-abort, but I do feel it is the lesser of evils and hate the suffering with overpopulation and widespread kitten eithanasia more. And especially when it's a such a high risk pregnancy. (If you do not agree, please, skip my post, I don't have the energy today.)

I got home and this woman let me know she let her escape. In her own neighborhood. I'm so, so upset.

She's also been keeping cats from the colony to "help" them who have serious, life-threatening conditions and she's not getting them medical care. One of them has not eaten in over a week. I am horrified and have told her I will pay for his vet visit and this is a medical emergency.

It's just day 1 of many, and I'm already devastated and sickened and will have not go into work today just due to the shock of it all. I'm a pro at trapping, and I can handle hard decisions with cats and know how to give them all I got...but dealing with people doing awful things is way harder emotionally than I expected.

What is a gooseneck faucet similar to Moen Brantford 7185 but with 11-12 inch reach?

My new home came with some...interesting installations. One of those was a huge commercial sized double kitchen sink. I'm short, have chronic health issues, and terrible neck and back pain doing dishes with my arms fully extended to reach the faucet. I'm exhausted with trying to find ways to make it work.

We want a new stainless gooseneck faucet with a further reach, preferably 11 or 12 inch reach. Preferably one that looks like our Moen Brentford.

We don't want any other special features besides a pull out sprayer and for the faucet to swivel. Deck mount.

Budget: We definitely can't afford a waterstone 5500 (Google's idea) or anything remotely that expensive. I'd been hoping for no more than $500ish before install costs, and it would be great to spend less.

ISO models and/or suppliers that would sell to an individual
