Personal statements

Hi! I’m planning on applying to ABSN programs in January 2027 for fall 2027 start. I’m applying to a handful of schools and some require or have optional personal statements. I’m just curious since it’s been about 6 years since I wrote my college essay, what exactly should be going into these statements? I plan to address the not so great grades I received freshman year but I have an upward trajectory (deans list almost every semester after) and why I want to go nursing route. But I’m curious as to how in depth or “personal” the statement should be and phrasing. Any tips, insights or tools to help would be fantastic! Thank you!!

Cocktail dresses???

I’m looking for websites or brands to buy good cocktail dresses but here’s my criteria. I’m 24, 36DD, typically a medium but usually have to size up to fit the bust. I’m looking for dresses that I can wear to a wedding, aren’t too revealing, still young but sophisticated in a sense. I want it to be a dress I can wear to a nice dinner too, I want versatility. Nothing super tight either

Preferably fuller bust friendly. It’s so frustrating bc a large is too big on the torso but fits perfectly over bust. Or the options for full bust are all boring and not cute. Please help a girl out😩

I’m going over my options and I’m wondering why I see so much hate about MCPHS post bacc??? I plan to start applying in January ish after all but one pre req is completed. I’m located in Prov, RI and am okay with a commute and have family in Boston I can stay with in case. So if there are any other recs on schools I’d love to hear!

Martial arts recs?

Hey everyone! I’m looking for martial arts studio recs. I am a first dan black belt in tang soo do and moved here from out of state. I haven’t practiced consistently in about four years but I’ve done random classes here and there, so I might be a little rusty. My last instructor and classmates knew me since I was 8 years old (23 years old now) so I’d love to find a dojo that also has community as well😅.

I am also open to other styles outside of tang soo do! I’m looking for a studio/dojo that prides themselves on learning the history and art of their work and not just the “moves”. Also a plus if there are classes w people around my age range. Open to any recs or ideas. I’m in Prov but willing to drive up to 30-40 min! Thanks☺️

B- a dealbreaker in Stats, Looking for advice.

Soooo in my undergrad I took Stats and got a B-. The school I went to, a B- is 80-82%. I’m a little confused on the wording on the majority of the pre reqs requirements to schools I’m looking at. It says “B (80) or better”. But I have a B- and it’s still an 80 or better so I’m confused on what to do. I also know some schools don’t allow pre req re-takes. Not my best grade I know, I was sick frequently that sem (working in daycare does that to you) and only attended a little more than half the classes. Do you think I should retake it before hand or will I be fine if my other pre req grades are coming in at A’s and above? Am I just being dramatic 🥲? TIA

Pre req/app advice!

This might be a dumb question but, I’m currently taking pre-reqs for ABSN program. Got my Undergrad in Econ but I’m just curious on extracurriculars I need to be involved in to boost my chances.

Do I really need to be actively working in patient care in order to have a shot at getting in? I have different volunteer experience, experience with kids as a nanny with newborns and up. I’m currently a nanny to a child w medical issues. I have volunteered working w veterans at my local VFW, greeting at a hospital my mom works at, volunteer work w Girl Scouts, internship facilitating the creation of kindness kits for children in hospitals. I’m just curious if not having direct patient experience is going to negatively affect me. I’m thinking I might apply for volunteer opportunities in the hospitals near me but I also work full-time in addition to going to school so I only have a few hours on the weekends free and don’t really want to get my CNA first (if possible). Looking for advice thank you!! I’m a 23f if that helps.

Okay I’m feeling very discouraged. I see so much negative stuff ab OT, especially now with the federal loan cap. I’m 23f, USA based, w a BS in Econ but want to do OT. I’m currently at my local Community college getting pre reqs and shadowing hours.

Now the issue is that quite literally every program near me (even multiple states away) is 80k plus. I’m in NE area so I get it but ugh. My plan rn is to apply to every single school even southern schools and hope for the best (acceptance, scholarship etc). But if I don’t get in/get into a lower cost program, is going the OTA route feasible? My CC has a program that I’m technically taking the pre reqs for rn. I’m just wondering if it’s truly a thing that certain employers will help pay for a bridge program or an MSOT/OTD later on? Are OTs really not making enough to pay their student loans, especially w the high tuition?

I also worry about wages in my area. OTAs are only apparently pulling in around 61k which is hardly enough to live comfortably here without roommates. I’m looking for real life OTA (bonus if you live in NE area) to share their experience w bridge programs, wages, work, etc. I want to work in OT but also trying to be realistic.

It’s so stressful trying to navigate all this (especially now) so thanks so much in advance!!
