poco x8 pro max is less flagship killer and more just flagship now

poco x mediatek phones have come come real far...

Its packing a dimensity 9500s, which makes it feel less like a flagship killer and more like a genuinely high-end phone that just happens to cost less. Mediatek’s newer flagship chips have gotten seriously good with thermals and sustained performance too, which matters way more than 30-second benchmark flexes

feels like the gap between premium phones and flagship killers keeps shrinking every year now

smartphone pricing is getting weird now 😭

34k used to get you near flagship performance, and now brands are launching phones with snapdragon 7s gen 4 at that price while calling them pro devices (vivo T5 pro)

Not saying the t5 pro will be unusable or anything, but the chipset just doesn’t feel strong enough for the segment it’s trying to compete in, esp for long term

I liked the design and battery setup on the vivo t5 pro until I saw the chipset choice

At 34k, I expected something more future proof than snapdragon 7s gen 4... I wont lie, vivo nailed everything else, then got weirdly conservative with the processor

Like its hard to justify that pricing when nearby phones offer stronger sustained performance in the same range

Oppo find x9s - interesting upcoming launch

Expected specs so far -

  • 6.3" 1.5k 120hz oled
  • mediatek dimensity 9500s
  • hasselblad cameras
  • wireless charging
  • periscope zoom
  • big silicon-carbon battery
  • slim + compact body

Ngl, the compact part is what caught my attention most. almost every flagship now feels like carrying a TV remote in your pocket. this one actually looks usable with one hand while still keeping flagship hardware.

also really curious to see the dimensity 9500s in action because mediatek’s recent flagship chips have been strong with thermals and sustained performance. feels like the flagship chip race is getting way more competitive now...

If Oppo prices this smartly in India, this could be a serious alternative to Samsung/Apple compact flagships
