There are certain Youtube channels related to my interests that, no matter what I do, Youtube will not recommend in my feed. These aren't controversial channels, either. One is a knitting podcast, the other is a bookbinding channel, both popular in these niche communities, and both I only found out about because someone else recommended them.

Youtube knows my interests. I am inundated with knitting and bookbinding-related Youtube recommendations. Some of these channels I've never watched, continuously tell the algorithm I'm not interested, but they still show up in my feed until I hit "Do not recommend channel." Youtube also recommends every single video related to these topics from certain channels that I've already watched, so that for every video I watch, I have to tell the algorithm I don't want to re-watch that same video immediately afterwards.

Yet, there are certain channels that I'm subscribed to, hit the bell, liked, commented, engaged, searched for that have never once showed up in my feed. The only way I know they post a video is the notification bell. I'd love if their old videos showed up in my feed, so I can enjoy the backlog, but it is as if they are blacklisted by Youtube. Also, if I start watching a video from these channels, but don't finish it, it doesn't show up in my feed, which normally happens with partially-watched videos.

It's really bizarre. I mean, my god, usually I watch one video from a new-to-me channel, and the next refresh my entire feed is from that one channel. But the channels I actually want to watch do not show up. It makes me wonder how much content I am missing out on that I will never know about. Something is really amiss.

Picture someone shrugging, saying "It is what it is," and then sort of pursing their lips in a way that only draws up one side of the face. Is there a word for that expression?
