Lodges review - what do you want to know?

I’m going again to Tanzania, this time visiting Lemala lodges and camps.

When you read reviews, what is the information you are looking for? What specifics do you want to know?

I’m bringing a notepad 😉

Power BI app

I added two reports to the app. But when I open the app it takes me directly to one of the reports, not the reports list.

Is this how it is supposed to work?

What do I need to do if I want my users to see the list? Should I create one page report with links to each report, sort of like table of content?

Thank you.

Books confusion

Hello, I just finished last episode of season 8, and started rewatching season 1.
I’m thinking about reading the books as well. I normally listen to audiobooks, but I don’t know if I can do 33 hrs of audio per each book.

I searched the posts but I don’t see the mention of the “half books” and there are quite a few of them.

What these in between books are? A regular part of the series?

Thank you.

Season 7 & 8 thoughts

Is it me or the last two seasons or certainly the 8th feel rushed?
Brianna and Roger there, then suddenly here. No in between.
Or one moment Claire and Jamie are at the Ridge, then boom, in Lord John’s house.

Also, the Roger’s internal monologue when he ended in the wrong time was weird. Funny but weird.

Advice on AC replacement

Good Morning. I took your advice and got more quotes from two different companies. Both are small local businesses.

Company 1 works with American Standard. The guy looked at everything, but took no measurements and provided two quotes for two different units. He said that once we signed the contract, he would come back to take all the measurements, which seems reasonable. It doesn't make sense to spend hours if we don't go with him. He was in and out in 35 minutes, unlike the damn ARS, 4 freaking hours.

Company 2 works with Armstrong, but I asked for a quote for American Standard as well, since my husband really likes the company. The two guys that came took time looking at everything, evaluating issues, and discussing solutions - I had no idea the two new ducts going to the addition above the garage - 2 bedrooms and a bathroom - done by previous owners, are not insulated. One bedroom is not connected at all 😯

My current system - over 20 years old Carrier, 3.5 ton outside, 4 ton inside - whatever that means.

My house - 2700 sq ft, always hot upstairs, very cold downstairs. We close vents downstairs in the summer and open them in the winter. I know this is a common issue in two-level houses on one zone/unit. I'm aware of things we can do to help the situation (like air-sealing and new insulation in the attic, open/close dampers, etc); for now, we are using window units, which are a huge eyesore, but keep the upstairs nice and cool. The uninsulated ducts might be the culprit; we will change those hopefully at the same time as we change the AC unit. We live in Northern Virginia. We will most likely stay in this house until retirement, so another 15 years, possibly longer. Or might sell it or keep it as a rental after retirement.

I'm still unclear on the single-stage, two-stage, and different speeds. I understand what it means, but I'm not clear on how it would benefit our house. Granted, all quotes are for single-stage units, but with different fan speeds.

I'm not a fan of the Platinum S8V2-C Furnace, but I'm assuming we can mix and match? I'm a firm believer that the fewer electronics, the better, and the less chance for something to break. I don't care about setting anything remotely either. We managed for 11 years without it.

One thing to note: the company #2 guys mentioned something about power issues in our area (data centers), and that it causes issues with, and now I don't remember whether this was about two-stage or variable speed, but they said they have a lot of service calls about this.

I like Company #2 better, mostly because they took time to identify issues and suggested solutions. But 0% financing is hard to beat. We could potentially pay cash for the remaining balance (we get $5k or $6k cash from our home warranty company towards the new unit), but I would rather not, especially since Company #2's quote for American Standard is pretty high.

I would love to hear your professional opinion on this. Attaching the comparison table. Yes, I'm a spreadsheet person 😁

Thank you in advance.

Layered matrixes

Hi, I have an issue I cant seem to be able to fix.

I have four matrixes, controlled by slicers.

I hide/unhide the slicers using clickable icon and the bookmark feature.

At first I had 3 matrixes, then added the 4th, after I already had the slicers in a bookmark.
I layered all four and used bookmarks again to save on space and show them individually with tabs.

Everything looks nice and works perfectly.

Until I open the slicers panel… I think the 4th table created last, shows with other tables so you can see the tables are layered. It only happens when I open the slicers, because that 4th matrix wasnt present when I created the slicers bookmarks.

OR it could be something completely different, too.

What I want:

- Obviously not have matrixes visibly overlapping when slicers panel is open.
-If user is on one of the tabs and open slicers I need that tab to stay visible. This goes for every tab.

For the last problem, should I create a version of open panel bookmark for each tab/matrix, group them together, then assign the group to open slicer panel icon?

Last resort, i can just delete all bookmarks, unlayer panels, and start over. I would rather not do this if it can be avoided 😬

Thank you in advance.

AC unit replacement quote

We had a quote today from ARS Rescue Rooter

4-ton Ruud RA14AY + RH air handler
full replacement/installation
tight closet
Northern VA (20110)
permits + thermostat
10-year parts warranty
1-year labor warranty

The quote is $15,800. I feel like it is high for mediocre AC?

We wanted Carrier but the quote was $30k for the cheapest model. Supposedly unofficially Carrier is going out of business. Which I was not able to confirm and I dont think it is the true.

Is this a reasonable price?

Our current unit is 20 years old Carrier, fan stopped working. Their tech said there is oil leak on both fans (indoor and outdoor) plus few other things.

Thank you.

Edit to add their technician diagnostic.

Arrived at customer's home for system not cooling properly.Found a 20 years old ac and furnace system.Turned thermostat on
and checked indoor and outdoor operations.Found major problems that need urgent work.Found Compressor drawing extremely
high amps(overheating)-sign of failure-needs to be replaced.Found dirty blower wheel.Found pitted contactor.heat exchanger is
weak.Found both indoor and outdoor fan motors overamping and leaking oil-sign of failure which can occur at any
moment.Found severely corroded evaporator coil-has signs of refrigerant leak.System uses banned R22 refrigerant that has
been phased out since 2010.Due to the cost of temporary repair and condition/age of system recommend replacing struggling
system that will fail and not cost effective to bandaid.Free estimate set

Rows in matrix

Is there a way to change the order of rows in Matrix? Similar to what you can do in Datorama?

Lets say I want brand first, then drill down to states.

But then I want to reverse the view and do states first, then drill down to brands?

In Datorama, countries can be the main row, but then you change order between states and brands, if that makes sense?

Or do I need to just build two tables?

Thank you in advance!

Switching from BlueHost

Hello, I'm looking to switch from BH to NixiHost and need advice, please. BH just charged me $750 renewal fee for 3 years. I have two websites. One is for my previous domain, the other one is for the rebranded domain. First one has 301 redirects to the second one. Edited to add that I have emails with Google.

questions:

  1. If I move, do I need to separately pay for domains, then hosting? What costs should I expect with the move?
  2. Do I even need the old website if everything redirects? Or is paying for the domain for now enough? I will eventually retire that domain. Asking because of the storage, if I delete my old website, or all pages except for home, i'm cutting storage usage by half, so i can potentially get a less expensive plan. In that case, I could just move the domain to the new host.
  3. I'm using Wordpress with Kadence, would everything look the same on the Wordpress side? Does everything transfer? Plugings, users, permissions, etc?
  4. What potential hiccups should I expect when moving websites?

Thank you in advance!
