Why Does Amex Use Expedia?

I travel frequently (2-3 times per month) and used to be loyal to Hilton (Diamond). Mostly I get to places like Columbus, OH where there are not any/many FHR or THC properties. My last 3 trips I’ve been put next to the elevators in the least desirable room on the floor. Each time the front desk has made mention of booking through Expedia.

This is definitely not a premium travel experience. I assume bookings with FHR or THC properties show up as being booked through Amex, why not other properties? Any rumblings on whether Amex will make changes in the future so the booking is not through Expedia?

Recommendations for an AD?

I live in Denver and spend a lot of time in Aspen. I’ve become fascinated with GO and want to acquire several different references. I’m looking to establish a relationship with an AD and need some recommendations. I travel often although the only place I get to regularly that has a GO AD is Naples, FL (2 - 3 times per year). I have no problem hopping on a plane and flying almost anywhere although I prefer nonstops from Denver.

I mention Aspen because Oliver Smith has a store in Aspen although they recently turned it into an Omega boutique.
