I love all kinds of food and I have a pretty expensive pallet. I pride myself in not being a picky eater. I love living in a city where I can eat Mexican, Thai, Vietnamese, Lebanese, Egyptian and Mediterranean all in one day but Jesus Christ I hate this plant so much. I have the infamous soap gene. It's not like some where it's a hint of soap either. The second it hits my tongue it tastes like some poured Dawn right into my mouth. It overpowers most of everything. People tend to think I'm exaggerating and I've had people try to sneak it in but I taste it immediately. The only time I can stand it is if the cilantro itself is cooked at a high enough temperature to completely break it down but that's rarely the case. I hate having to ask people to take it out of their cultural dishes when I go to their restaurants because my Appalachian ancestors didn't bank on me wanting Pad Thai on a random Tuesday. I would love to enjoy the fresh flavor people talk about, it's not fair.
I'm not sure if this is allowed but I consider Blood Meridian a modern classic. If it violates the group let me know.
